Sailing into Stormy Weather

Sailing into Stormy Weather

Our pirate-themed, ship-shaped, raised bed looked like a ghost ship when I got home from work last night. Very "atmospheric". :-))

27 Nov, 2010

Yes...my little man would looove David's garden, snow and all.
Just imagine BF, we can be sailing to warm, tropical islands soon.

27 Nov, 2010

perhaps the carrots of the parribean will help out? or was it parrots of the caribbean???

27 Nov, 2010

Bo'son's report: Cap'n weigh anchor awhile don't fancy Davey Jones locker yet a while :o)

28 Nov, 2010

Icebergs spotted on both port and starboard, Tt :-(

Don't think this ship will be making any headway for some time, Yorkshire and Alex. :-(

Bo'sun, you got your nautical terms in a knot thar, methinks? :-))

I like the sound o' those parrots of the Caribbean, Sticki!
:-))

Shirley, me crew isn't at all sorry about it, lol!!

28 Nov, 2010

David:

Wow! What an incredible photo! It does look very cold though!

28 Nov, 2010

Thanks, Cristina! I hope that you escape snow, but sounds like you have been really busy in preparation for cold weather. Your plants will love you for the TLC. :-))

Exactly 0 degreesC, Delonix, so not really cold, just wet.

28 Nov, 2010

David:

60F/16C is cold to me...0C is very cold!

28 Nov, 2010

Thought that it might be, lol!!! At 0C, because of the position/location of my house, I don't even really need to turn on the central heating, but usually do now, in the evenings, for a few hours. Of course, I still envy you your Golden State temps!!! :-))

28 Nov, 2010

David:

My house is always warm also (it faces south on a south slope) and I rarely use the central heating. However, for almost a week it's been on at night. This is the first time I've had to use central heat this early in years.

29 Nov, 2010

do you have an ice breaker on the front of that ship david??

29 Nov, 2010

Brrr! "Shiver me timbers!" We haven't yet had any that stayed on the ground, but it has snowed once so far...

30 Nov, 2010

Looks like your sailing to the North David are you and the crew searching for Father Christmas?

30 Nov, 2010

we could let christmas go adrift? or take a trip on davids ship for christmas instead?

30 Nov, 2010

wicked pic David....:-)

30 Nov, 2010

I wonder if the Capitan has got enough supplies on board to take us all away from this snow to a hot climate Sticktoffee? Then we could decorate the crows nest and have a tot of brandy as well.

1 Dec, 2010

that sounds an excellent idea lindak ~ ive bought my ticket ~ come on board!!! is it rum on board ship?? i will settle for either!

1 Dec, 2010

wish we cud sail to warmer climes lol ... got snow now as well breeeeerrrrrrrrr or just send the rum round here yo ho ho !!! lol ;o))))

1 Dec, 2010

Hey ho me earties it's rum....ye brandy is in short supply....oi forgot. We'll av to ask ye capitan to sail to Jamaica........Yo Ho Ho an a bottle of rum!!!!!!

1 Dec, 2010

if ye capn has no rum he'll have to walk ye plank!

1 Dec, 2010

Ahoy thar, m'ladies!! Caribbean cruises cancelled till further notice, am afraid. Bit o' a rum do, I knows, but me next pic shows why. :-((

1 Dec, 2010

aaaaarh shiver me timbers that be a rum do indeed, ice-locked boat till next season ~ come in number 99 your time is up!!

1 Dec, 2010

oh, do I 'as to??? Can't I be boat 101, at least? An', thar be no planks to walk, much as I would likes to dive into thon bonny snow, lol!!! Would some Caribbean-looking scenes keep up your spirits (when I get them) keep yours up? Tickets are non-refundable, btw, but are open-ended. LOL!!!

1 Dec, 2010

The bonny snow would be a soft landing mon capitan. No olde Jamaica inn to stay at then Arghhhh! Who's paying passage then I was going to work mine off by swabbing ye decks and splicing ye mainsail.

2 Dec, 2010

aye aye capn you can be boat 101 [is that better than room 101?]
virtual caribbean would keep us rats 'appy on board, if there be no planks to gnaw or walk
hoist the jolly roger and we're off!

2 Dec, 2010

wait for me stickytoffee, I'll just grab the Christmas cake i've made, except that's got brandy in it. Sailing....we are sailing....close again, cross the sea......

2 Dec, 2010

i havent got any rum, will cherry brandy do? and of course will need a camera ~ all those lovely warm sunsets we shall see. wont be any big waves will there?

2 Dec, 2010

I don't think I've ever heard of pirates drinking Cherry Brandy Sticki....Yo Ho Ho and a bottle o' Cherry Brandy....Hmmm....Something doesn't sound quite right! By the way Cap'n....could ye just hoist a mainsail to drift by the 'colonies' so that I could swing aboard?

3 Dec, 2010

OOOHHH Gilli we could av a party on board.....an if not ye rum ye cherry brandy would be very andy Stickytoffee......Let's await ye orders from mon Capitan.....

3 Dec, 2010

at this rate we will be aboard whisky galore!! we could brew/distill/ferment our own whilst on board ~ using all the fruit we pick from the tropical islands?
now that would be a really good booze cruise ~ no getting off until it is matured??

3 Dec, 2010

Would that be 'no getting off until the whisky is matured'? Or 'No getting off until the "crew" has matured'? LOL
Avast me 'arties, where be the Cap'n? 'As 'e abandoned ship? Or per'aps 'e's fallen into the sea and bin taken by the Kraken?

4 Dec, 2010

AHOY thar, me 'earties, I's be back from an awfully big adventure, may I say? Went to work for the day 5.00am Thursday, and only got back this afternoon (Saturday), LOL!!! The 3hrs drive each way (normally 40mins), due to snow, ice, accidents, breakdowns, not to mention the many a******s, en route, took its toll, so packed me backpack, etc., and battened down the hatches. Me cabin quarters were, however, befittin' a real captain, ye'll be glad to know. Aharr!!! Was sorry to leave, if truth be known, and sail home to dig mesel' into the 'ouse (as opposed to diggin' out!!) Still unable to get me modern, 4-wheeled, metal "ship" within a mile o' base :-((.

Still,( and would this be an illicit one?) am here again. This booze cruise sounds marvellous. When does it happen? LOL!!! Many Thanks, all, for keeping me laughing. A workplace computer very seldom lets me post a comment on GOY - so THANK YOU!!! I could really go a double "Captain Morgan" (a rum brand name, btw) right now!!

The PS Capt. Kiddin is still lookin' a bit like the "Titanic" on the seabed, alas, or Scott's "Discovery" in the Antarctic, but ye 'as given me a nice idea for a virtual Christmas Caribbean Cruise. wi' lots o' plants thrown in (but not into ye illicit still) Would this be fair trade/ postpone me plank walk?

XXXXXXXXXXX (would this 'elp me me more?) LOL!!!

4 Dec, 2010

ooohhhh arrghh mon capitan, the xxxxx go a long way in elpin ye lady members of ye crew arghhh!!!! Thought we adn't seen ye on ye deck....thought ye as ibernated. As long as ye rr safe....let's set sail! Up anchor and wind ye capstan round and round singin as we go....yo ho ho!!!!!

5 Dec, 2010

Oh 'ar Cap'n. Glad t' hear ye Kraken didn't take ye. T' xxxxx's be just fine. Let's weigh anchor and head for calmer waters. As fine as ye quarters were, to be sure, t' tropics will be finer. Send ye cabin boy to ye crowsnest and set sail for ye Bahamas. We'll steer into ye sunset and be off.

5 Dec, 2010

Thank ye kindly, Ma'ams, here's some more, then...XXXXXX. Yo Ho Ho, an' a bottle o'...??? Darn! It be empty!!!!!!

Thar's been a slight thaw on ye mainmast today, so per'aps we'll be able to weigh anchor soon? Would that be ye full-strength capstan, Lady Linda??

Gettin' caught be ye Kraken sounds a tad painful, Lady Gilli!! Aharr!!

Right! I's been thinkin' o' takin' a wee trip to somewhere "Caribbean", just so's I can update ye Capt. Kiddin' Cruise brochure, ye understand? Am getting mighty excited about this, feelin' "Typically Tropical". Can't get these lyrics out o' me 'ead. Join in, if ye remember the tune.......

"Woah, we're goin'to Barbados!
Woah! back to ye palm trees.
Woah! we're goin' to meet our goyfriends.
Woah! in the sunny Caribbean sea."

5 Dec, 2010

woah, we're goin to have some fun
woah, we're goin to the sunshine
Woah, we're going on the ocean
Woah, we've set this trip in motion! ?

5 Dec, 2010

"Sail away, On CK Cruiseway,
Jolly Rodger flies high, Barbados sky y y y y!......."

Many Thanks, Sticki, for me first online duet - LOL! Love your lyrics! XXX

5 Dec, 2010

I be workin me passage Capn!

5 Dec, 2010

I don’t wanna be in cold winter all my life
Ive seen too much of rain and snow and thunder
Sail away on David’s cruiseline
Sail away, Goyliner?

5 Dec, 2010

Sounds more painful than bein' caught be ye Kraken!!!!! No need to, matey, thar'll be plenty o' free passage if ye Capt. Kiddin' thaws out. :-D)

Oh, ye 'as sung another verse, I see!! Think we crossed bones thar!

"I looks up at the sky, see snowy clouds ;-((
Look down, an' wish it'd go down the drain.
Sail away, On CK Cruiseway.............
Mainsail high, Barbados sky y y y.............."

5 Dec, 2010

LOL :o)

5 Dec, 2010

When ye blizzard whistles round ye ear'oles
And t' snow flies up ye nose
Sail away, On CK Cruislines
Mainsail high to sunny sky y y y y......

6 Dec, 2010

Oh Wanna go to ye Caribbean,
Oh wanna sail to ye outer reaches
Oh wanna dip my toes in warm seas,
Oh wanna walk on ye fine sand beaches,
Yeah we're goin to Barbados
Yeah we're sailin cross the sea
Yeah we're goin to Barbados
wiv Mon Capitan, crew an me.........Oh Yeah!

6 Dec, 2010

i think we have 3 song writers on here ~ David, Gilli and Lindak ~ they are very good ~ i didnt know the song so it was hard to try to make up the verses ~ yours are very good.

now can you do some new carols cos i really dont like some of the things they play in the shops ~ they are definitely past their sell by date!!!

6 Dec, 2010

BRAVO!!!!!!!!! "Cruisers" - LOL!!!!
Sorry, another 1ft of snow dumped on ye PS Capt. Kiddin overnight and today, following a promising mild, slow thaw at the weekend, so no weighing o' anchors, nor castin' o' ropes, just yet! :-(((((

Oh, Sticki, wish I could sing it to ye! Then again, you'd probably be none the wiser, wi' me sea shanty tone, lol!!!!

If I 'eres "Let It Snow" via a tannoy delivery system in ye shops or malls once more, I swears, I may not be responsible for me actions!!!!!!! :-))))))))))))))

6 Dec, 2010

I be with ye on that one Capn!
Just to escape the terrible music would be good enough reason to go on that cruise! No hi fi on board is there?

6 Dec, 2010

next development for GoY ~ sound bites? eg: wind blowing in the sails, waves lashing against the side or lapping on the beach, birds singing, Captain singing!??
I just found it on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45qgP18fIVk
great fun ~ lovely pictures with this one too
all i needed was my grass skirt ~ mustnt forget to pack it for the cruise!

6 Dec, 2010

Sound bytes would be preferable to frost bytes, Sticki - lol! youtube video displays so many dull, grey buildings, no???? Love the palms and beaches/sea pics, tho!!!! hi-fi strictly verboten but, methinks, the wi-fi might just be worth keeping? Glad you found it!!! XXX

6 Dec, 2010

were there grey buildings ? sorry i must have forgotten them, the beaches, palms and blue seas must have washed them away!

we could do desert island discs!? 8 pieces of music ~ no horrible christmas songs allowed ~
luxury ~ wi-fi?
book?

6 Dec, 2010

Lol! Desert Island Discs? Hmmmm, wonder what I'd choose.

7 Dec, 2010

you got back from work then?
guess you would choose 'Woah, we're goin'to Barbados' ?

7 Dec, 2010

Yes. Okay, will add this to my list, as seems a good one to start with, of course! :-D)) Could always double it up as a frizzbee for the beach, after all!!!!! :-D)

7 Dec, 2010

could be very useful ~ have seen cds used for scaring birds, mobiles and maybe they could start a fire for cooking ~ in the same way as a mirror ~ did you ever try that?

8 Dec, 2010

How about this recycling CD idea from the internet ...

... ideal after some of the Captain's cooking experiments ...

Use as scrapers when cleaning pots and pans. Use them as-is, or cut them into any desired shape to best fit your pots and pans ..

Songs titles ...
Island in the Sun ?
I've got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts ?

;o)))

8 Dec, 2010

amazing cds! be even better if they cleaned the saucepans themselves!
i thought of island in the sun just as i was drifting off to sleep last night
perhaps i could make floating islands for pudding today!?

8 Dec, 2010

"Get into that kitchen and rattle them pots and pans" might now make it onto me list, Tt, lol! Self-cleaning CDs? Wonderful idea, Sticki! Did ypu make those dessert island puds, then? "Islands in the Stream" (Dolly Parton and Kenny Rodgers) came to my mind.

8 Dec, 2010

Is this an order Capn??? I shall jump to!
no sorry to disappoint didnt make the puds tonight ~ just a bacon sarnie with a fried egg [but the bread was fennel and sultana] i did enjoy it!!
are we taking a bread maker on board??

8 Dec, 2010

At ease, Stickit!!! Thar be no "galley slaves" on this cruise! Uhmmmmm! Can just smell ye sarnie....Yes, a bread maker will most definitely ne on board. Her name is Hilda Dorissen, fellow GOYer, who, I can vouch, makes fabulous breads - without machinery!!!! :-)))))

8 Dec, 2010

oh great! hope she can teach me!

9 Dec, 2010

that's a brilliant idea! found it while working through "garden feature ideas" on GoYpedia - now I've got to check out the rest of your gallery to see more!!
