Ahh the bay your husband trained DD? I just love it and the pots around it, i gave my standards a trim in march/april but i dont think i took enough off, i like the tightness of yours, mine are leggy if you know what i mean, when do you trim yours as i dont have a clue lol..
Your banana's doing well, brill, mine is looking good also, Wayhay..

Ydd that's the one.....Peter used to trim it after it had flowered, he now takes out the growing tips to keep it nice and compact, and does this all through the growing period, time consuming I know!!
The bananas are ok in the pot but not in the ground, not going to bother nursing them all through the winter any more, our local GC had some beauties today at £10.00 and some fantastic Cannas, so will buy from them in future.

Thanks for the info DD ill try that, i wont try to overwinter my nanas either, they are £5 at morrisons, cannas too, lovely big healthy looking plants..

Never is that all? message from Peter when you pinch out do not cut in to the old wood leave some of the new growth on just remove excessive growth....
