I tell you they live in the trees! I didnt believe it when i got told, then one day a few years ago I was up the ladder cutting it down and saw masses of them! I fell inot to it twice lol! lost two pairs of secateurs! Then on the birdtable and sticking on the side of pots..they are everywhere! I hate them! Found lots of slugs yesterday under the Knapweed which had got blown over..man I've tied that up about 6 times..securely..damn wind..rain..sick of it all! The slabs outside the shed are all slimely i keep slipping!

9 Jul, 2012

9 Jul, 2012

thats definitely what they deserve!!! YDD

9 Jul, 2012

damn things are a pain. it annoys me when they get down the funnel of the watering can and you can't get any water out,

9 Jul, 2012

Amen to that, Yorkshire - poking about with wire, or a bit of bamboo....

9 Jul, 2012

your right there M

9 Jul, 2012

I am lucky I have Mr Big Toad in my garden, he is always licking his lips when I see him!!

9 Jul, 2012

they can stay in the watering can if they leave the plants alone but they wont make a deal

lucky you tubby Mr Toad would be a very welcome addition here!!! he would be an even bigger toad!!!

9 Jul, 2012

he is dicing with death there sticki, when a bird sees him , damn cheek

9 Jul, 2012

no birds have visited sanbaz!!

LOL I'm sorry Sticki It looks so funny ,that isn't a baby one crawling up to mummy is it ,that brown blob beneath it ?

9 Jul, 2012

HB thats exactly how i feel but there are no childrens spades or buckets here! so i fling them over into the woods beyond [no doubt they return every night] i am going to put LOADS of pellets down now!!!

well spotted amy ~ i think its yet another slug ~ no doubt will be getting sleek and fat like the rest of the slug population round here.

[i laughed too!!!!]

We were over a friends house yesterday she was showing me how some plants had grown that I had given her when she spied 2 big fat snails between the pots she took them out and immediately stamped on them ,I don't like them but couldn't do that ..yuk!

9 Jul, 2012

no nor me. i quite like snails, especially those pretty little ones, i just dont want them eating my plants. i really hate slugs but i hate them so much i cant touch them!!!

9 Jul, 2012

I rather like snails too, but I honestly think they eat more in my garden than the slugs do. My runner beans are being eaten again - half are ok and the others look like something off the cover of a sci-fi novel. Someone advised me to put coffee grounds on the surface of the pots. I did, but the only difference is that there's twice as much slime!

9 Jul, 2012

oh no ~ i do NOT like slime!! and sometimes i think you attract more slugs and snails when you put the pellets down.

i thought you were going to say the only thing that happened was the beans tasted of coffee!!!

9 Jul, 2012

Looks as if a squirrel has been trying to gnaw its way into the bird feeder, Sticki!

9 Jul, 2012

Sticki LOL ,haven't you heard of Coffee beans ,very handy for a nice cup of freshly ground coffee :o))

9 Jul, 2012

yes melchi ~ they gnaw through everything here!!! ~ this is a squirrel proof feeder ~ ha ha!!!

very good amy ~ you are still wide awake!!!!!!!

9 Jul, 2012

Hey - that's a good idea! I hadn't thought of that. I could corner the market in coffee-flavoured veg - "wake-up" tomatoes ("Are you tired all day? Try Wake Up tomatoes. Guaranteed to perk (hah!) up your salad!")

9 Jul, 2012

save a fortune in the restaurants too ~ you wont need that cup of coffee at the end ~ you already drunk it with the veg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

9 Jul, 2012

Lol!

9 Jul, 2012

:-))

9 Jul, 2012

must have changed his diet!!! Holes are beginning to appear in the hostas. Found a few snails in the week nestling inside the rim of my flowerpots.

15 Jul, 2012

You can't really blame him, Sticki! That hole's made for him - he fits perfectly! What you all need is a supply of lizards like mine! I don't have very much trouble now with the Slimies, and the blackbird does his bit digging out the beasties - the bird bath has brought the bonus of more birds stopping in the garden, so they have a snack before a shower. :o)

15 Jul, 2012

i can cope with the snails in the rim of flower pots linda but not the slugs!!!!!!!!!! it makes me shiver to think touching them by mistake

nariz i dont think lizards would like the cold here but i would happily have them here.

16 Jul, 2012

I think this guy chose a very good place for the rest. Bless him.

21 Jul, 2012

he is not stupid is he? he has, thankfully, gone now!!

21 Jul, 2012

People need dreams. Otherwise they die from inside.

21 Jul, 2012

you are very philosophical katarina! i like that phrase.

do you think the snail is dreaming?

21 Jul, 2012

I have no idea! lol. Check him!

21 Jul, 2012

Lol.....

30 Aug, 2012

:-) he did finally leave!

31 Aug, 2012

So he slept there! :)

31 Aug, 2012

i think so katarina!!! looks quite cosy!!!

31 Aug, 2012

Extravagant guy!

31 Aug, 2012

ha! too funny. I uncovered the gas bbq the other day which had only been covered a week or so and there were two in the grill. perhaps they wanted to commit suicide. they get absolutely everywhere.

9 Jul, 2013

yuk............barbecued snails!!!
