The Bees were loving it this morning Carole , I have another one called 'Bonfire ' which only grows between 2 /3 ft in height .... it's a lovely colour , I have it in the wrong place at the moment I will have to wait until the autumn to move it I think .. ... I was surprised at how strong the scent was today on the big shrub , you could smell it way before you reached it .. ..
My Pittosporum isn't doing at all well , it,s about 7ft tall the leaves have turned very yellow , like you I'm thinking of replacing it .. :o)

I have two Amy which I have for quite awhile, they havent a leaf left on them and I dont think they will recover, such a pity as they have been so lovely in the past.
Bonfire sounds just he right size for my border will look out for it!

I have two pieris but only still very small.

It's taken 15 years for the Pieris to reach this size , there was a time when I didn't think it was ever going to grow , still it's been worth it !
I wonder why the Pittosporum go like that Carole ? I have a small dark leaved one that seems to be alright ... I've just been to look in my book and it says it's not a very good choice and that it will die in many gardens in the winter .. I think I will avoid them in the future . .......

Thanks girls, I must admit it is looking the best it has ever done this year and the scent is wonderful , I think I will go out with the torch now that it's dark to see if it is stronger at night like honeysuckle ..... :o)

This is gorgeous Amy won't grow in my garden :-((((,wrong soil type, yet my pittosporum are fab have a couple with variegated leaves and they've grown like mad, the cold weather hasn't bothered them a bit.

Ooh....a real picture Amy, very beautiful!...:o) I didn't know that the flowers would be scented....mine are only small, but I'm going to have to crouch down now to sniff them...Lol!

Well goes to show what difference the soil makes Kathy , my Pittosporum isn't very well and you can't grow Pieris .. ...
Yes they do have a scent Janey , you will have to get down on crinkly crankly knees to have a sniff ...LOL...

Amy that looks superb, I have several different ones, nothing as big as that though.
The Pittosporum are not reliably hardy, we lost a large on last winter, our variegated one is ok thank goodness. Do you prune your pieris Amy? I do our large one to keep it tidy, after flowering.

Thanks Dd ... I haven't pruned the Pieris but now that you have said it's safe to do it I wil have a look round it after it has flowered to see if it needs tidying up ,
It does seem that several people aren't to happy with their Pittosporums this year , we have to think more carefully about what we plant after this last winter . .. :o)

We certainly will, trust me to go for a jungle garden, typical, always late for everything lol

Isnt that just Glorious! its so full of blossom, I just love Pieris so hardy too Amy, Im thinking of replacing my Pittosporum with them, Ive three already two varigated and one plain with pink flowers but they are so attractive all the year round and came through the winter unscathed ;0))
