One of your specials Barbara......looking forward to seeing them all.......
15 Jan, 2011
mine not doing anything as yet barbara, i have 4 i got last year with flowers on, not this type i add, but not even grown any, but will leave them and hope ;o)
15 Jan, 2011
Mine either Sanbaz, they got pretty flattened by the snow.
15 Jan, 2011
didnt realise they were hard to grow or keep, maybe its fussy on soil conditions, i may get a more established one , a bit more expensive but may be worth it.
15 Jan, 2011
I bought 2 litre pot sizes and they havent looked back..just suffering a bit this year, but they will recover.
15 Jan, 2011
thats good Tetra as you say they will recover, im going to treat myself.
15 Jan, 2011
You can always tell Baz, its a good painting subject lol, which it is actually, our lenten rose puts on a wonderful display.
15 Jan, 2011
good idea lol, my birthday next friday and baz already got me some new paints and brushes for art, but said i can choose something else to, so maybe a new plant ;o)
15 Jan, 2011
San, they are a bit fussy I'm told. I seem to grow them without any problem at all. They do like shade though, and my soil is neutral-to acid which might make a difference, I'm not sure. Some people seem never to have any success for no apparent reason, so it must be something to do with the soil I guess. A new plant for your birthday...great...gardening time!!
15 Jan, 2011
thanx karen for info, maybe mine are in wrong place as south facing, so may move closer to house, north facing and see what happens ;o)
hope you have settled back into normal routine ok after your lovely break ;o)
15 Jan, 2011
Yes, thanks San. Lots of cleaning today and went and got some compost for seed sowing. It's been pouring all day though, so not got into the greenhouse yet to see whether all is well in there....hopefully tomorrow! Reading people's blogs today has made me feel like spring is on the way thank goodness! This year has been a stinker hasn't it. Still, at least we finally got some painting done San! :))
15 Jan, 2011
Thats a lovely present Sandra, how thoughtful..and a new plant would just round it off! We have £80 worth of vouchers from Christmas and might get a few more next month!
Looking forward to see some new pictures from you..snowdrops in a wood, and bluebells to come soon..make great subjects..
15 Jan, 2011
yes not a good year but things to look forward to, all ok here but not saying to much , dont want it to turn about , but making me feel better, enjoying my painting karen, we are going to be doing an abstract i think this tuesday comming, one of the members is setting a task for us just for fun, so should be a laugh, think he said a human form abstract lol
15 Jan, 2011
Tetra it was a great present has nothing much i want at the moment, yes spring flowers are lovely as painting arent they, especially in water colours :o))
15 Jan, 2011
What I love is that its such a mass, all you have to do is put lots of tiny daubs on the canvas..at least I would, which is probly why Im not much good!
15 Jan, 2011
your right it is a mass apart from close up front then a bit of detail makes it, i think anyway, what do i know lol
16 Jan, 2011
what gets me drooling are the still life paintings of overblown roses in a vase..would love a couple of those and one of the most amazing still life pic I ever saw was at Burghley House, The Rose and Glass by Van der Mijn..painting a piece of glass must be one of the most difficult things to do..
16 Jan, 2011
i agree i love still life myself especially over flowing with large blooms, roses are so hard to do so dont think i will be doing a still life yet lol, but love the brightness and colours they bring.
16 Jan, 2011
I will post the glass pic for you Sanbaz, but I will have to delete it after cos it isnt my picture.
16 Jan, 2011
Lucky you Barbara , I keep looking I can only see the shoots so far ........
16 Jan, 2011
Sandra mine not in flower yet, i find when anything comes into flower down south, our's come into flower anywhere between 2-4wks later.
16 Jan, 2011
I don't find them difficult at all - I feed the plants with blood, fish and bone in the spring, and they are planted with some shade. They seem to like facing east in my garden. Do you remember the one that didn't flower for 4 years, but did after a severe talking to last year? ;-)
Maybe that's the answer! lol. I have neutral soil here, by the way.
I can see lots of lovely fat buds on the others. :-)))))))
16 Jan, 2011
yes your right carol, being inpatient here lol
16 Jan, 2011
What again, Sandra? lol.
16 Jan, 2011
Mine are all showing bud Barbara, your's is a beauty though. I don't seem to have any problems only that the clumps get too big sometimes, but then I divide & sell the rest. Acid soil here very free draining. The ones I put in the hanging baskets last year seem to have survived will post them when in full flower.
17 Jan, 2011
Oh yes, please do! :-)
17 Jan, 2011
So beautiful Barbara no sign of any of mine yet and some are still under snow.
18 Jan, 2011
Oh, you poor thing! I hope it goes soon. :-(((
18 Jan, 2011
Beautiful:-)
18 Jan, 2011
I'm looking forward to the others - they've all got fat buds. :-)
19 Jan, 2011
i must buy some, never had them:-)
19 Jan, 2011
Very soon, then. The GCs tend to sell them when they're in flower - or you can get cheaper packs of six less mature plants, but they'd be unlikely to flower this year. I suppose it depends on your purse, your space and your patience! LOL.
19 Jan, 2011
Have to be internet buying I'm afraid...unless they sell the at Malvern out of flower:-(
20 Jan, 2011
Doubtful, I'd have thought. It's a bit late then. The Nurseries seem to like to sell plants with flowers on, don't they!
21 Jan, 2011
what a shy little beauty!
5 Feb, 2011
Yes, she is, Sticki - I wish she'd hold her pretty face up a bit! :-)
5 Feb, 2011
they're funny like that aren't they hellebores, heads down and camera shy!
5 Feb, 2011
There are some new upward facing ones I believe, very expensive ¦:-(
5 Feb, 2011
think it would be better to plant them upside down in a basket???
5 Feb, 2011
Oh-ho! If you find out any more, please tip me the sink, Ba! ;-)
Sticki - I am usually to be found lying down gazing at the Hellebore flowers. I need the rest! lol.
5 Feb, 2011
Aha! hence your avatar??
i have been known to lie down taking pictures of flowers ~ been seen in woods doing same ~ very embarassing!
5 Feb, 2011
What sink would that be Spritz? ¦-)
5 Feb, 2011
That's probably your excuse Sticki. Spritz, if you look on the Moonies blog, you'll find that they're all alchoholics and lie down anywhere ¦:-(
5 Feb, 2011
if you look carefully spritz ~ im not!!
BA you are awarded a wooden spoon for stirring!!! :o)
5 Feb, 2011
Spritz the two I've heard of are h.Walhelivor (ivory prince) and h. walbertons rosemary. Try googling ¦:-) Sticki a woman may be judged by the company she keeps. You'll have to forsake those Moongolians and stay in Stourhead with the SISters ¦:-)))
5 Feb, 2011
pamd do you put hellebores in hanging baskets? sounds a lovely idea.
BA ~ i cant just desert ~ i cant do things like that!
i have to be a moonster cos im in both
6 Feb, 2011
Ha ha Spritz just checking to see if you are on your toes.....don't think for a minute that I had a senior moment and forgot that this is a pic of Rosemary lol:-) Try googling the other one ¦-)
6 Feb, 2011
Oh Sticki...a split personality:-(
6 Feb, 2011
'bout right BA
6 Feb, 2011
Hey - I've actually GOT the other one, Ba! :-)))))
Sorry I made a typo. Trust you to pick it up! Boo, hiss, Grrr. I WAS going to post a blog - not so sure now. So there!
6 Feb, 2011
I suppose then there are no upward or very outward facing ones then Spritz lol...one day:-) Now as to your hurt pride... ¦;-))
7 Feb, 2011
I decided to rise above it, so I DID post my blog after all, Ba. :-D
7 Feb, 2011
I'll have a look :-)
9 Feb, 2011
I should think so too! Hmmph!
9 Feb, 2011
Gorgeous :o)
12 Feb, 2011

13 Feb, 2011

13 Feb, 2011
Glad to hear it! $:-)
13 Feb, 2011
What's this attractive new hairstyle? I must take it on board... $:o)
15 Feb, 2011
Lol Spritz do tell us the name of your new hairdresser, I must go there, I feel quite bald ¦:-( It suits you too Pip.
Oooh I've found one who can do it...whadya think? does it make my face a little long what with my eyebrows an' all? $¦:-)
15 Feb, 2011
No, very attractive on you both. $;-D
16 Feb, 2011
Aww shucks $¦:-)
16 Feb, 2011
