This photo shows some of the poinciana trees that have naturalised out in the bush surrounding my home. There are literally hundreds of them around here scattered throughout the hills.

Lovely view makes me want to explore it.

Morgana ... my youngest son tried to explore out there a few years back ... didn't get very far. It turned out to be very rugged and the grass (all that brown stuff) was head high ... not good when you're on the lookout for snakes and other nasties!

Lovely view.....Do you get many snakes and nasties?

Sueb - yes we do get snakes and during summer we get some huge beetles (we call them rhinoceros beetles ... they're that huge!) and other annoying insects. Luckily most of the snakes that come close to the house as tree snakes and not dangerous ... I still give them a very, very wide berth though!

Bernieh:
I bet when all the Royal Poincianas are in
bloom -- it must look like the hills are on fire.

Yes it looks like there's patches of fire all over the hills, Andy. They pop up everywhere!

Bernieh:
Yes, I've read that Delonix regia have
naturalized in many areas of tropical Australia.

They most certainly have around north Queensland - it's amazing where you spot them!

What else?
See who else is growing Delonix regia (Acacia Roja).
See who else has plants in genus Delonix.
This photo is of "Delonix regia - Poinciana" in Bernieh's garden
