Gorgeous another one for my wish list , :o))

I inherited TWO of these - I'm not nasty enough to them when it comes to pruning them. I do love them in flower, though. :-))

Oooh, I can smell it from here B!! Beautiful photograph as well! Do you find it very very straggly and unkempt? I thik I might try this in my new shade garden....

No, not at all. It's a shrub, so it's easy to keep in shape. I'm not too sure about shade, though, Karen. Mine are both in the sun. My RHS book says 'partial shade'....maybe you could do some research?

Thanks, will look into it! Perhaps I should put it on the sunnier fence.

thats beautiful ~ is it out now???

Yes, this is a winter flowering shrubby honeysuckle. It's hardy, but last year I lost a lot of the flowers when we had a very heavy frost just as they opened. From the forecast, that might well happen again this year! :-((

im going to put it on my list ~ i also need to put sunshine on my list ~ how effective are mirrors in a garden??

mine didnt survive last winter. I am so envious.

What a lovely flower Spritz, hope it pulls through so you can enjoy.

And I'm both surprised and sorry, Sbg. Was it a young shrub?
Hi Littlelegs - the shrub will be fine - it's the flowers that will suffer if the frost is too harsh, so I'll have to wait and see.

yes I'd bought a 'twig' at easter and although it leafed up it didnt put much growth on, then by next yr it was dead. I didnt throw it out for ages just in case.

I thought it must have been a baby one, Sbg. Such a shame, though. :-(

How delightful, we grow lots of honeysuckle and this one was on my to buy list, because we do not have a winter flowering one.
15 Dec, 2010
It does take up space, though, Dd. I know that's at a premium for you.

Wonderful Spritz....all the bad news at the moment...it makes you wonder if anything's worth it....and then you see this.......stunning!!

Thanks, and I do agree - any flowers in the winter are a real joy, especially in a bad one. :-))

Pretty!

:-))) It's hidden under a lot of snow now - I hope some of the buds will survive to open!
