Lake District Holiday

Missed GOY last week because Sophie and I were on holiday in the Lake District. We had wonderful walking weather, just a couple of showers and not too hot. She is a very good dog most of the time and never chases the deer we see every day but sheep – how exciting are they.
We managed to get past them without too much trouble and began the long walk along the Langdale Valley and up to the Pikes.
What a climb, but really worth it for the wonderful view.
Coming down was harder than going up, oh my toes hurt. Sophie didn’t have a problem, but was looking for sheep the whole time so had to stay on the lead. Saw a beautiful cottage on the way back, lovely now but
how do they get there in the winter?
Walked round Buttermere which was lovely and peaceful.
And viewed Lake Windermere from fells above Hawkshead.
After a week of very long walks Sophie fell asleep on the bus!
Oh, and finally, we met this funny little chap.

Sophie looks happy to be on the bus instead of climbing, bless her, great shot of the little bird, looks cute with its head on one side.

I love it too Lincslass and try to go at least once a year. I had my 15 year old grandson with me for one of the walks, but no photos of him because he was so far behind!

Really great place to go for a holiday, and it's good to see that it's still lovely and unspoilt! Thanks for sharing your photos, Ginellie.

Glad you enjoyed the pics. We had a lovely time, not least because everywhere I wanted to go I found a bus that went there too. No driving along those winding roads- so relaxing.
