Chelsea

My friend invited me to be her guest at Chelsea, and what a lovely day we had. We arrived at about 3pm and didn’t leave until after 7pm. The rain stopped before we arrived and after that it was sunny and quite warm. We saw Carol Klein, who was with Gail from Coronation Street (don’t know her real name), Nigel Havers, and of course Mr. Titchmarsh. Lots of really wonderful gardens and beautiful plants. One of my favourites was ‘A Widow’s Garden’. It showed a rather neglected house with uncut grass, but the most beautiful plants. I wondered if they were so healthy because ‘himself’ was buried underneath. They didn’t think so! Bought lots of seeds and hope some will grow and remind me of my very happy day at Chelsea. I didn’t take photographs because there is so much tv and newspaper coverage and, as you know, my photographic skills are not the greatest.

I know what you mean B but I don't have a great camera and I neither do I have a great eye (well, now that I can put both lenses in at least I have two). You are right though and when I go to Hampton Court Flower Show in July I will definitely take my camera.

Pleased that you enjoyed your day at Chelsea, Ginellie. I hope that some other GoYers went as well and took some photos as we don't all watch TV or look at the papers.

I am so envious - I watched the coverage on BBC2 last night and it looked wonderful - I would love to go to Chelsea sometime.
Did Alan Tichmarsh really look as 'orange' as he did on the TV last night, even my hubby commented on the 'tan'?
I saw Alan Tichmarsh, Chris Beardshaw and Rachel DeThame a few years ago when they did gardeners world live at the NEC. Alan was amazingly small, Chris was rather wild looking and Rachel De Thame was stunningly beautiful (grrr little green dragons of envy).

Pleased you enjoyed your trip to Chelsea it’s such a great experience. The atmosphere is amazing. I was lucky enough to work on the Hillier stand in 2005 I don’t think I will ever forget that day. A friend of mine is working up on this years stand tomorrow I must say I am very envious!

For a superb collection of pictures of the plants at Chelsea can I recommend a visit to: 'www.srgc.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3582.0'
or visit the srgc website 'www.srgc.org.uk' go into the Forum, scroll down to Events and open Chelsea flower show 09. Be warned, there are rather a lot of pictures.

Yes Ducky, Alan is very orange and also very small, but very 'pressed' is how I would describe him. Can't imagine him looking scruffy even when cleaning out a pond.

I think the 'orange' may be a natural tan as he does a lot of sailing - wind tan as well as sun.

So its windburn then!! I will have to look out for the telltale white crinkles at the eye corners from the sailors squint into the Wind!!

Well Nanamags I would love that - how will we know each other? If it's pouring with rain I'll be the one wearing Marie Curie Wellies (along with many others) and if it's hot and sunny I'll have big sunglasses and very loose clothes (along with many others). A GoY tee shirt would help us.
