Sophie

After my wonderful day at Chelsea I arrived home at about 8.30pm. Sophie was very excited to see me, as always. I very rarely leave her with anyone, but this time she had been taken out by a friend. I thought it was strange that my friend hadn’t ‘phoned during the day, just to see how we were enjoying everything. Anyway what happened was that she had lost Sophie in the park. Having looked for her for over an hour she was just about to go home when two young girls saw her carrying a lead and asked if she had lost a spaniel. They had just got off a bus and seen her running down a main road and were unable to stop her.
My friend decided to go back to my house and call the police to report her missing. When she got there Sophie was sitting outside the front door. In order to get home she had to cross at least 4 busy roads over a distance of about 3 miles. She must have followed the route we take almost daily.
I don’t think I will ever leave her again.

~I'm so glad she is alright! She is a clever girl! I am only happy to leave our dogs with my daughter and son in law knowing they have an enclosed garden and when the public go home and they lock the gates it is traffic free~my dogs have no road sense and love cars!

I can't believe she found her way home, but her journey makes me turn cold. She is deaf, though only 5 years old, but I guess her other senses made up for that.

Full marks to your friend for even telling you what happened - many people would have kept it to themselves. Admire her honesty.

~I think I would probably let her look after Sophie again~one thing is for sure, she will be grateful you trust her enough to give her a second chance and there is no way she would ever let it happen again !
