Very autumnal. For me, it is the winter-growing bulbs are starting to come up. That feeling you get in spring when the garden wakes up, only in the fall.

Your baskets and tomatoes look to be doing really well :-)

Wow those baskets have really taken off and grown they are huge with lots of blooms to stunning displays. Lots of ripe tomatoes to .
Love that little red flower last photo.

Hi Amy
Thank you
No they are my Heinz Tomato (variety they make the sauce from I got free seeds this year from Heinz ).
I grow the Manx in a mini plastic greenhouse so the seeds stay pure .
Good on you with the jar , but works a treat ....

Wow! Those tomatoes are really splendid. Our compost plants are tall now but shouldn't think they will bear fruit as it's much too late. Will start early next year.
Love Lobelia Cardinalis.

There's loads to look at and enjoy in September! And your garden is no exception :)

Wow I love your baskets Gnarly, the rest is doing well also, autumn is always a favourite time for me, both in the garden and the countryside...

Haven't the begonias done well this year, mine are still going strong bigger & better than ever.
These early autumn days are still colourful.

Thanks all , reaping the rewards is good fun as well.
I am making a point of sitting down with a cuppa for minimum of 15 minutes just to soak it all up something most of us dont do everyday
Take some time out for your self...

I bought a Lobelia Cardinalis 'Queen Victoria' in the GC
throw outs sale yesterday. £2.69p The leaves are dark red.
Never heard of it before. Does it have to be planted in a
water feature ? I havent got one.
Will put it in a large pot, keep damp and shady.
Any advice very welcome.

Hi Diane
"This moisture-loving plant can also be grown at the edges of a pond"
No it doesn't need to be planted in a water feature but needs to be kept damp. Full sun or shade.
Its meant to be fully hardy with protection of the crown, but I will take cuttings and keep them frost free over the winter just in case and they are easy to take.

Gg - def. good to have relaxey time :)
Diane, hope your new lobelia will do well for you :)

Thank you Gg. Its fallen over now. I will put a support into the pot, and stand it in an inch of water. Will be semi-shade and see what happens over the winter months
when I keep it in the greenhouse. It was just an impulse buy as different.
Its bargain time at GCs.

Oh thanks Dotty
Baskets still up at the moment and I think the warmth of the wall helps , amazingly they stood up to the storm and the toms are slowing down now but still lots to pick.
so " Painted Red " I said I thought the new series "Bee Dance"

I think that's why I love September - no telling what you will find out there. There's always something unexpected waiting. We seem to get a bigger variety of butterflies.
