New apple tree collected + Wisley

Today was kill two birds with one brick day

My Pinova apple was ready to collect from Blackmoor nursery, so decided rather than a special trip to collect I’d pick it up on way to Wisley, only a small detour off the A3

Collected OK, nicely wrapped & just fitted in car, it’s about 6ft tall including roots
I’ll post pictures and more once I’ve got it settled in, at the moment it is outside. I’ll sort out the planting tomorrow, wet snow & hail at the moment

Wisley was lovely, unfortunately yesterday’s wind & rain had battered the crocus but they were still there with promise. They are a new planting, masses in patterns

I’ll put photos up another day, in the meantime here’s one that caught my eye in the glasshouse, couldn’t spot the name, but certainly eye catching, looked like a plastic one TBH but I could see where it was growing from

Good gracious, it doesn't look real at all!
My abiding memory of Wisley is the grass, surprisingly. Just like velvet is an inadequate description...

I remember seeing that amazing turquoise colour plant at Wisley a few years ago. It's common name is Jade Vine and is fabulous. Thanks for showing it and welcome to GoY.

Wow, that's a Jade Vine. I saw a glorious one on display at the New York Botanical Garden. That's the only place I've ever seen one until now. It's indigenous to tropical rain forest and is in danger of extinction. It has the appearance of plastic, but it's very real. I thought the flower clusters hung down like chandeliers. I don't know too much about it, but it's just nice to see one outside of the museum.

Pleased you have your tree and don't blame you for turning it into an outing as well, I haven't been to Wisley, have seen it through the eyes of other members though and it is on my list, from what I've seen I know I will enjoy it, looking forward to seeing the rest of your photo's...
