Out in the bright sunshine, some say weed, others wild flower, lovely and cheerful whatever tag it’s given

I leave these celandines, under my apple tree, surrounding the Dalek compost bins, nothing else likes it there, too dry in summer plus it’s next door’s cat sunbathing area

But no dispute over these daffodils

Another sure sign of Spring, I squished my first Lily beetle of the season

Very pretty, no beetles showing themselves here, I keep checking and if I spot them they'll get the order of the boot, lol..

its only a weed if you do not want it growing where it is. I have many British natives/wildflowers in the garden deliberately as well as some that are weeds for me.
I have a small area where I allow lesser celandine to flower; it is such a pretty flower.

Celandines - glorious in the sun but here definitely a thug. All over the lawn and spreading fast. Popping up in the flower beds no matter how often I dig them out. the tiniest bit of root left in will grow again.

Are they just a lovely Ray of of sun shine those Celandines gorgeous Daffodils too. Glad to hear you caught the lily beetle before it could cause damage.

Celandines are a real harbinger of Spring, so cheerful. I have tried to grow them (everyone gasp in horror) but they are not keen where I have planted them so far. The Geese and chickens probably haven't helped with either eating them or scrapping them up. I agree Stera that they aren't wanted in the lawn - my bugbear on that one is the creeping Potentilla. Celandines remind me of being a child when all the hedge banks were covered in them and other wild flowers - very few now, including the hedges and banks!

I too like Celandines, but they do tend to appear where you don't want them !

We have creeping potentilla in the lawn as well Honeysuckle, and bugle too. And primroses - today OH very cleverly mowed round them, but the celandines got the chop - they'll be back... Up on the cliffs a few years ago on a glorious sunny day, we saw a patch of shining celandines right next to a big patch of dog violets, with blue sky and blue sea as background. Once seen never forgotten-

Oh lucky you with primroses, I've tried all sorts to get them going in my garden, no luck at all, I even went to someone's garden & dug her excess out of the lawn to put in mine, I never saw them again :-(

Same with forget me nots, grow like weeds some places, not in my garden despite my efforts.

I think it's as many say, plants will grow where they are happy to be
