Am still on holiday in San Diego. Went to a lecture on fruit tree pruning yesterday. learnt some new terms – “secondary scaffold branches”l “drop crotching” etc. Mentioned Growsonyou.com and lot of interest shown. May have new members shortly.
Set beetroot in daughter’s raised bed 6 weeks ago. Only Just above ground level now ! Told they will be very slow as Winter here. Winter ? Today it was 85 degrees, I have a great tan and it’s rained just a little about 3 times in last 7 weeks.
Some funny people about though, i’m always in shorts and tee shirt but a lot of them wear thick coats, body warmers and bobble hats etc.
Only problem – daughter’s family vegetarians. Can take so much then have to slink out have a meat feast

I think the body adjusts to the temperatures it gets used to. Many years ago I went to the Gambia in December when the temperature was 'only' 90 degrees. Many of the elderly locals were wearing at least two jumpers and were huddled round their fires to keep warm!
