Changing Light

It’s been very overcast and raining off and on here all day, but, its now lovely evening sunshine. It just gives the garden a whole new glow. In a large pot the leaves of the twisted willow are shining golden. I really like twilight in the garden, when the white flowers really come into their own.

We've had mists this last couple of days and it seems to have given the garden a bit of a boost.
I love having a wee walk around the garden as the sun goes down, it always feels so peaceful don't you think.

Your right Louisa, it is very still, just different from any other time of the day. I've only seen what looks like one bat here, but, it could be several they move so fast.

No mists here so far Scottish. Every time its rained here lately, Ive said come on you can do better than that - but we've only had really heavy rain once in weeks, not enough to water the garden - its a case of lugging watering cans from the front to the back of the house, but it has to be done.
Your right about the peacefulness, I even walked round in the dark. Saying that its not really pitch dark as there's a street light that makes it brighter. At night I like to sit under the little seating area, (its made from split bamboo - Ive named it "Wits End") and listen to all the different sounds.

I love the dusk too, Helenium. Some plants come into their own then, as you say, with the white ones seemingly glowing and others heavily scented like the Night-scented stock by my back door - delicious.

I'm the opposite.....I love to sit out in the very early morning. I'm always up around 6ish or earlier due to a dodgy hip that won't let me lay in bed too long!! One day this week I was sat quietly having a coffee and a squirrel came round from the back garden and sauntered passed me! Then the day after I heard some rustling around the back thinking it was a cat or something.....and a fox put his head round the corner and he also sauntered on by!!! I was gobsmacked...just wish I had my camera on me!

It's lovely to hear all the sounds that nature makes at different times of the day and night. If I sit out at night I can hear the slugs moving over the gravel - I just leave them alone.

Early morning is lovely too, CJane - but not as good at getting up for that!

I like to go out at dusk too, it's a pleasantly still time of day and I love to watch the bats flying around. There seem lots of them round here and I can't work out where they roost.
