Your wish has come true for me, Holly! Though not so far this year. I did see one quite often last year on my balcony. It seems to favour Geraniums, I watched it several evening in a row going from one plant to another!

I'd seen them many times while I lived in Spain, in fact I didn't even know we had them here in the UK till I saw one here last year! In Spain I had many more Geraniums there on my balcony railings than here. I would spent many evenings watching them going from flower to flower & how the so deftly, yet delicately, they put their L-O-N-G kinked tongue into each flower & suck up the nectar. Fascinating!

Your photos are very good & I wished I'd been able to photograph them as well.

They're all still here, Balcony! Still favouring Geraniums, but having many a rekkie around my Sweet Williams. I also saw them quite often when I was in the UK - they loved the Buddleia then. Beautiful creatures - and they do have an ethereal way about them. Lovely pictures Holly! :o))

Glad to hear they are still around in Spain, Nariz! If I were to see one here again this year I would be prepared this time, just whip out the old mobile phone & take a quick shot! I still have Geraniums on the balcony but not at the top in the rings this year. They are all on the middle bar & so it's unlikely I'd be able to get a shot even if I saw one. :-(

I haven't yet joined the 21st Century as I must be the only person in the world who doesn't even have a mobile phone - let alone one that takes pictures and makes the tea while tap dancing! I still have to rely on my old 3 pixel camera, so while I'm firing that up - all the interesting things have flown! :o(((
