A vegetable blog

Every year I tell myself I’m not bothering with vegetables any more, because they’re boring and I’m not a foody person anyway … usually making something quick and easy, and with as little washing up as possible.
However, every year I also tell myself I may as well grow a few fresh things and make use of my raised bed.
I bought some loose pea seeds last week, in a garden centre near here, they’re called ‘Ambassador’ and they are dwarf plants and therefore suitable for my raised bed.
And yesterday I bought a few loose seed potatoes in Carmarthen – Orla, Caledonian Pearl, and Kestral, They will go in some big pots and I’ll put them in a sunny spot on my patio.
Maybe I’ll buy another variety as well later on, we’ll see how it goes.
I’ve also bought some onion seeds – they’re called De Paris and they make good pickling onions, but I won’t be pickling them, I’ll be using them as normal onions, and because they’re small they will suit me better.
I’ll be sowing them soon.
My autumn planted onions sets are coming up nicely, they’re in deep troughs. I slid them under some staging for shelter when the weather became cold but now they’re out again.
I’m going to grow tomatoes peppers and cucumber as usual, and I’ve also decided to grow a few turnips and parsnips in my raised bed … but I’ll sort those out at a later date, there’s plenty of time at the moment.
So much for vegetables, I’m mostly looking forward to my cacti flowering lol !

I'm going to grow some flowers for cutting in my raised bed Rose ... if there's room between the peas and parsnips :D but I'm hoping to squeeze a few in.

I have 4 raised beds on legs and after 2 years of everything getting eaten by slugs and snails, didn't bother last year. Like you, I am on my own now so not sure what to use them for this year!
