I went out into the garden this afternoon, front and back, just to see some of the latest buds, blooms and bits.
Some things are still a little way off budding never mind blooming! Some faded, some fresh..
I enjoyed the open air, sunshine and pottering round. Looking forward to the clocks springing forward later in the month too!

Thank you, Mossy, I appreciate your message!
Yes, you’re right, it’s a rhododendron. I do hope the lovely deep pink flowers come out again this year!

Aw, thanks Julia! I’m pleased there is more colour year on year now..getting there. I do love my evergreens, but, I love the colours in spring. Those buds are definitely plump! Just hope they bloom!

Thank you Paul! Yes, I cannot recall the name of the spreading evergreen on the rockery, with little white flowers. I’d have to look at the card in the shed.

as you say lots of buds swelling, fit to burst. I cant wait for the Skimmia to open as I love scent. Some pretty Ajuga too, I have a pink flower form that is full of buds too.
I love that orange flower but I cant put a name to it is it a succulent type plant?

Thank you, Klahanie! Kind of you. You’re right, it’s still winter for a short time yet.

Thank you Eileen. Yes, I’m looking forward to the skimmia flowering. I was keen to move it though, as it’s potted up.
The flower/plant you mentioned is the Paper bush or Edgeworthia. I have it in the front bed.

Good clear close-ups, Kate. I think the mixes of small plants in the first 2 photos is particularly interesting.

Amazing to see so much color so early. Well done Kate.

Aw thanks Ange! The first 2 are definitely on the rockery, there’s a mix of all sorts there.

You have some lovely pics there Kate - I do like that Hellebore. And it isn't often that we see pics of grape hyacinths - yours is beautiful with the sun lighting it up like that.

I am too alkaline for the Edgeworthia sadly, they have a lovely scent too don't they?

Thanks kindly, Sue. I’m not sure if I planted the grape hyacinth? I can’t recall...but I must have ☺️

Eileen, our soil is fairly neutral. This edgeworthia isn’t overly fantastic. It’s ok. I think I’ll be watering it more in the warmer months. Our front is quite self sufficient apart from a couple of acers, but I do need to water this much more.
