A few flowering tulips on a visit today.

On one of my visits today, I was shown some pretty tulips and some other newly planted blooms in beds…
Took a couple of snaps as I left.
The weather was quite dull on my journey to Lincoln from Hull first thing. A couple of very light showers, but, no proper rain for the garden sadly…onwards to Scunthorpe and then back to Hull this afternoon. One of my colleagues is retiring and today was her last day…we had a little afternoon tea for her and lots of lovely gifts too.
She will be sorely missed..but, we’ll keep in touch.

Love those sort of metallic effects some modern tulips have!
I missed the fact that you're back at your original job - that's splendid news - I bet you've had some lovely welcomes!

I hope you manage to keep in contact with your retired colleague - it's not always easy once they have left. The tulips are very cheerful and bright. I'm glad you're back to your old job traversing the county. You seem to enjoy it very much.

The Tulips must have made a cheery hello on the day your friend was retiring.

they are stunning tulips Kate.
Did you know there is a Tulip festival this week and next at Burnby Hall Garden Pocklington? I plan to go and it is a beautiful setting with a national collection of waterlilies. Worth a look in the summer.

They are a lovely rich colour. Sad in some ways when your colleagues/friend retiring. My older sister a community midwife and last week put in her notice to retire. She hasn't had the best of health for the last few years with her kidneys. It was a real mixed bag of emotions putting in her notice after so many years.
How are you coping being back at work?

Sue, have to agree, I do like this effect too.
Thank you, I’ve had some smashing ‘welcome back’ messages from everyone, it’s so lovely! I’m so pleased to be back in my PD role!!!! ☺️

Thank you, Ange. I know what you mean, we all try with our best intentions to keep in touch, sometimes we do for a while, then the contact gets less and less sadly...
I certainly do enjoy being back out and about and driving through the countryside and the villages again! It’s great to be back visiting all my lovely patients -oh! and some new ones too!

Thanks Jen, yep, getting back to normality this week! Tired, but enjoying the catch up. Busy day today..worked my way through many villages from just over the Humber Bridge, right across the a15, back to Scunthorpe and then over the bridge again...lots of bloods, dialysis tests and reviews today. I’m quite tired again tonight, but off now til Tuesday, which includes a holiday day tomorrow and on Monday!
I’m sorry your sister has had to retire through ill health now, she’s obviously had a fantastic career albeit a busy, hard one at that! I’m sorry she’s now suffering with her kidneys - that’s my area. I’m a peritoneal dialysis nurse ( renal specialist). I do hope she is being monitored and looked after.. I’m sure she is going through all sort of emotions at the moment. Sending best wishes to her. 🙂

Thank you Kate. She has suffered with her kidneys for years, she has 3. They also found that her bladder was very small so about 15 odd years ago decided to enlarge it with to give relief to her kidneys. Then then found that in the end, she needed to remove her bladder and she now has a stoma bag fitted but when it was fitted, they had nicked her bowel and it went untreated for nearly a month. She went into organ failure and ended up in ICU and us all called in one Christmas eve to say goodbye. She pulled through but it left her with worse kidneys and a damaged heart. She is a real fighter and made it back to work but has decided that she needs to take thing easier now.
It must be very tiring. Take care of yourself.

My goodness, Jen!!! What an absolute nightmare your sister has endured!!! It sounds horrific.
I’m so sorry she has been left with such terrible complications after everything. She really does need to take time out now, she’s out enough of her time and energy in to her work over the years. I’m still shocked by everything she’s had to go through, Jen. It’s been not just awful for her, it, for you and all the family too.
I just hope she is being looked after now from her kidney and heart point of view. Xx

Thank you Kate. She is now 65 but had originally wanted to carry on working a bit longer. As said, she is a real fighter and loves her job but took the hard decision that she needs time with her family now. Her heart damaged has left her very breathless and not strong enough for any more operations. This last year she was told to self isolate from the beginning but being her, she then took over all the phone work and booking in for her team lol. For years she has been monitored for her kidneys and now also her heart and has stayed positive that it won't beat her. X
