Weddings and Weeding

I hadn`t realised how long it has been since I last wrote a blog. So much has happened, garden wise, work wise and family wise too.
My son gets married on Saturday but alas, for various reason we are unable to attend. It`s taking place in Brazil and to say we are very upset about going is an understatement. There is a small chance that we will get a video link via MSN but we won`t know until the day. Both Jim and I are trying to keep occupied at the moment just so we don`t have too much time to think…sigh.
I`ve had a bad cold that lingered a while and kept me from the garden for too long. Then when I felt better it rained and rained so of course I just had to stay in while the weeds grew and grew! Then earlier this week I`ve been doing longer hours at work so again the garden missed out, today however I left on time have been outside all afternoon and got loads done. I`ve weeded and pruned as though my life depended on it. Dug out what seemed like yards of bindweed and probably given myself a sore back but I`m very pleased with the results regardless. Tomorrow I hope to carry on where I left off.
Three weeks ago we went to Norfolk for a week and had a really lovely, relaxing time. The weather wasn`t too bad and it was really hot at times. We stayed in a little village called Belaugh, nr. Wroxham where there are no shops or pubs, just a few houses, very narrow country lanes and just a stone`s throw from the River Bure when Jim spent many a happy moment fishing. It was his his idea of a perfect holiday, a river at the bottom of the garden! I bought some plants very cheaply ( no surprise there) and visited a fair few garden centres. The day we were going to visit some gardens it decided to rain so we had to change our plans but it didn`t spoil the holiday. I hope you like the photos. :o)
On one of the beaches we visited, Winterton, we saw grey seals swimming along the edge of the beach. They seemed really curious and followed us as we walked along. Perry, not being a swimmer, kept looking at them but had no intention of investigating and soon became more interested in some smelly seaweed which was far more to his taste…lol!
On the journey home we were amazed to see a white deer run across a field, now THAT would have been a great photo. At first we thought it it was a sheep until it got up and started running. I`ll bet we never see one like that again.
Anyway, must fly. Time to catch up with other members blogs and photos. :o)

Hi Labdancer, I was only thinking tonight I hadnt seen you and Lincslass for a while.
Sorry to hear you cant make the wedding, my nephew married a Brazilian here in England, and the brazilian family couldnt make it either..its such a shame, but kids seem to be going international these days..my niece married a Basque chap, so a bit easier, altho we didnt go..if you love them I guess you have to let them go. They might have a church blessing over here later..why not suggest it?
Still, a lovely holiday cottage...a gorgeous setting and you certainly gave the garden "what for" when you had the chance!!
