when to harvest potatoes

My potatoes in bags are going mad They are like triffids. Some have flower buds on them, but I cannot believe that there are any new potatoes ready to harvest. Surely the bags would weigh more than when I planted them It is like feeling Santas stocking on Christmas morning, I cannot feel any little potatoes and I dont want to wreck them by taking any out to test them. This is what I do every year with the garden grown plants. Leave them until the foliage has all gone and then I cant find any potatoes. I think the illustrations in journals are having us on , I would be most surprised if I get a single potato. Anyone dare test theirs yet?
