Gardens at Burghley.

The weather being gorgeous and the schools on holiday, my daughter fancied a break from her studies, as well as being a mum and working as a teachers assistant she is also working towards a degree so as you can imagine her time is pretty much taken up.
Armed with our camera`s we headed off to Burghley House, at the beginning of each season they open the gardens and the money raised goes to our local hospital, in my opinion a very worthy cause..
Although the spring bulbs have now gone over it was still lovely.
I grumble about trimming my hedges, fancy keeping that lot in shape..
The only gardener we saw so I guess the spirits do the rest……..
Might have missed the bulbs but all those shrubs are gorgeous but sadly we haven`t all got this much space.
You cannot visit without a wander around the lake especially on such a lovely day..
Has to be one showing off.
Strange things by the lake..
After this we`re off for a well deserved cuppa and icecream for the grandson, then back home to our own by comparison modest gardens……..

Burghley is beautiful, we went there in Oct09 when we stayed with friends in Stamford. The house is stunning too - those murals are something else, very raunchy some of them!!!
The water gardens are lovely too.
No sign of any deers in your photos ... were they hiding?

It is a grand place, we didn`t take grandson a change of clothing so stayed away from the water gardens, thats on the list for another day,as is the sculpture garden, both change yearly so are a definite for another day out.
Donnah the deer were all near the house I promise I`ll put some pics on for you, they are very people friendly and will eat out of ones hands at certain times of the year.....Did you like our ancient town?...
Thankyou Olive, I`ll have to admit I aim and fire and hope for the best,lol...
