Brynners pruning and the result..

Last year Brynner excelled himself and very nearly destroyed my Passion Flower, its growing at the back of the g’house along the fence that separates the run from the rest of my garden.
I planted it about fours years ago, a root taken from my youngest daughters previous house in the hopes that it would take off and therefore in time she would have a new one for todays garden, it was very slow growing at first, you can imagine how disappointed and angry I was when I discovered him dragging it around last year, the first time it had showed signs of growing and the flipping dog had broken the main stem right down near to the ground, I left it in and have to admit it did actually do some good as its really took off this year and is spreading along the fence.
The first flower to open and many more to come…
Brynner has long since been forgiven..below is my Boston Ivy, another donation from daughters previous garden, completely covering the old conifer trunk, not sure whether any bugs have moved into the little hut which is hiding amongst the foliage..
The garden is looking after itself this week apart from the watering and a wander with the camera as I’ve been laid up with a very nasty virus which unfortunately I’ve managed to pass onto my hubby and daughter, oops!!!!! somethings are not good when passed on…
Not what you’d call flaming June, its really cold here today but at least the sun is making the odd appearance…..

I'm sorry you haven't been well Lincs and hope you and your family will soon be feeling better , The passion flower recovered wonderfully it looks to be taking over ,in fact everything in your garden looks lovely and healthy . ...

I bet that's the same virus I'm just getting over Lincslass. Take care of yourself, it's horrid. Your garden is looking really beautiful. Can you tell me what Daylily that is please? I love the colour. :) willow disgraced herself yesterday with one of the plants Kath gave me. Actually it was son's fault as he can't get it into his grey cells that she can't be left unsupervised in the garden! grrrrr!

Brynner is obviously a gardener at heart as he's done the passion flower a power of good! Sorry you've not been well, nor your family. At the risk of speaking too soon, we are having warm, sunny weather - if a little humid. Hope it bucks up for all of you who don't feel as though Summer has arrived yet.
Some lovely plants there, Lincs.

LOL, Brynner is a lazy gardener and only picks on the ones which he has easy acccess to but obviously thats a good thing.
Its still overcast here today but the sun is trying its best and its certainly warmer, everything is going mad except my veggies and they've definitely done a bunk, I tried beans 3 times and still only have 2 showing, guess its not going to be my year for them, tatties look to be doing ok but only time will tell..
Karen I think the daylily is Kwanso, donated years ago by a goy member, Willow sounds as though she's enjoying life, its sods law that she picked on one of Kaths plants, if your son is anything like my family then he probably thinks its funny when the pup is playing with the plants, of course to us being the gardeners its definitely not but our minds work a different way to theirs, lol....

Lincs, my beans came and the darned mouse ate them off overnight, definitely mouse as you can see where they scratch the soil around to get at the seeds as well as the shoots. So maybe yours have gone the same way as mine. I too planted French beans twice and just as they came out of the ground everyone of them is taken off by the leaf. Me thinks more poison is called for. lol. I shall not be getting any beans this year that is for sure. Although they have done the beetroots as well so that has had to be replanted, again I am sure they will eat it off before it gets up and going. They even ate off the Brussels so I have put some seeds into pots and will transplant them as they get big enough hoping that they will leave them alone once they are of a size. :O(

Those mice! You'll have to have a good farm cat Mum!

The only problem with a cat is WALTER he would never leave it alone and chase it around the garden, probably causing more damage than the blinking mice. lol :O(

I think Brynner knew what he was doing Lincs. It's a lovely time of year isn't it, but I'm surprised you haven't had the lovely warm dry weather we've been enjoying. Mind you, I'm hoping for rain tonight, everywhere's getting dry. I love your roses and pinks and that soft pink penstemon is beautiful .... your daylilies are ahead of mine which are still in bud:-)

All changed today ladies, it was hot, hot, hot!!!!!
Shorts and suntop on and a day in the garden even with the coughing and spluttering, done me more good than any medicine ever could, darn bug just won't go so figured I'd work it off..

I'm pleased your shrub has survived and regrown so well :) and that Brunner has been forgiven :)
He was only trying to help you :o)
Your other plants are wonderful, esp that Hosta in a pot ! I can't see any slug damage on it at all :o)
Sorry to hear you've got a virus. I hope it clears up soon :( It's so uncomfortable to be ill in this hot weather :(
21 Jun, 2014
Thanks Hywel, I cannot keep the Hostas in the garden because they always get eaten, they do occasionally get nibbled by the snails but I put blue pellets in the pots as soon as I spot them...
I reckon it takes longer to shake illness off in the warmer weather Hywel, its a nasty ole bug and just won't beggar off, lol....

Stroller he certainly thinks he is, in fact he thinks he owns house and garden, lol, at least he doesn't dig holes anymore just prunes in the dogrun, both dogs are very good company and like to be close by at all times.

He did a good job on that passion flower, although I think I might have been a bit of a while before I forgave him. lol what is he like. It hasn't done any harm though so least said soonest mended. :O) Your garden is looking so lovely hope you feel better soon to be able to get out more and do what comes naturally to us gardeners. :O) lol warm here but had a few rain drops this morning, sunnier this tea time though all good :O)
