Is It Really Autumn..

Yes it is and the colour in my garden is better than it was in June/July,I had a very long springtime but then it seemed to come to a halt really, kickstarting itself in August and since then we haven’t stopped..
Then we have sunshine and warmth, so a quick stint in the garden with my secateurs and another walk with my camera..
Just starting to sweep the leaves and the rains came back.
A very changeable day in October….

Think it was the same here, summer late to arrive and hanging in there. Lots of lovely colour still in the gardens. Making the most of it when the rain stops. Much better here this morning, hope it is for you further south Lincslass. Leaves also starting to turn and drop not looking forward to the leaf sweeping up but eh ho it helps keep me fit. Also the autumnal colours to look forward to in the landscape, lots of trees to turn and glow, think it will be a bit spectacular once they start to turn golden. Fingers crossed eh! for lots more colour to come if only on the trees. Got my bulbs in just bought some tulip bulbs for planters but the advice was to wait as long as possible into November to plant them up so they are waiting patiently in my kitchen drawers. Your garden looks very pretty still Lincs. Enjoy!!!

Love you garden. Still so much colour. I know what you all mean about pulling up summer plants, I only put in a few petunias but they are still doing so well, keep saying to hubby, I'm going to bin them but keep putting it off :-).

Very colourful.
My garden has been so dry in places over August/September that the leaves have turned and started to drop earlier than I would expect.
What is that lovely small tree under the willow, Sue? Not an Amalanchier, is it?

Enjoyed my walk around your garden. So many plants blooming still. Wasn't it July that was a washout this year? September is making up for it in your garden.

Don't your roses look a treat with the raindrops on them? there have been such fabulous pics of roses on Goy this summer.
We have been leaf sweeping today -spread them on the lawn and mowed over them. It was good to have a nice clean drive, but looking up at the trees it will be short lived - lots more to come...

The entire garden looks lovely and I am So envious of your ponds. I hope to achieve something like that next year. What is the shrub pictured between the sedum and the fuchsia? I have that in my front garden, it has a lovely scent but is now like a small tree. I wonder if I should be cutting it right back?

Thankyou all, everything is enjoying our weather, its as though some have gone tippy toes up but long may it last, I like looking out on all the colour, saying that it would be nice if the grass slowed down for me, lol..
Paul the shrub under the Willow is an Amalenchiar, its an absolute beauty and has always been a favourite of mine, needs a haircut really as I wasn't able to do it last year but as its grown so big I can sit in my chair and admire it no matter what the weather.
Ginnellie the shrub you speak of is an Abelia, now that one did get a trim and then rewarded me by growing twice the size, it obviously likes its position in the garden..

Oooh, I was going to ask if you cut back your Abelia . . . having heard your result, I'll leave mine alone!

Oh, it is Alamanchier....I thought so but difficult to tell in photo.
We planted one this spring and its growing lovely. Leaves have just started to turn last two days but not as colourful as yours.ive put a couple of photos of it in my latest blog.
We are really pleased with it after taking a long while to decide what to plant there!

I think your summer was the same as mine! Very late indeed! And June....brrrr! I went out on Monday with the intention of pulling out annuals, but couldnt bring myself to do it. Even though they have been battered by the winds, they are still so colourful. I did remove the big pink Cosmos as it was squashing other plants where it lay. Oh well....better get those crocus bulbs in!
