A day out in Scotland.

Well, the weather here over the last few days has been wonderful….18 – 23 degrees. Barry and I decided on a day out as it just might be the total number of good days for this year. :o)
We went to Inverary with lunch at The George then off to Crarae Garden and then Arduaine Garden. It was a great day…… 200 miles round trip. We collected some fish at the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar on the way back.
Here are some photographs……. The group of ferns are estimated as being 1,000 years old!!!!!!

I was just looking on the map, it was quite a way for you to travel, much too far from galloway in a day, we did go to Culzean Castle near Ayr over Easter, that was lovely, the grounds and the castle were really interesting

Picture No.1 appears to me what I can remember as
'The Rest and Be Thankful Pass.' Am I right ?

You are right Diane. We always stop for a coffee there on this particular outing. The only thing that let or trip down was the lack of flowering Rhododendrons. They are so late in blooming here.
Culzean Castle is another of my favourite places Pam. It is best in July when the walled garden is in full colour. It has a great garden sale at the walled garden. :o) The tea rooms are lovely and a cliff walk from the castle to the Swan Pond is a must. As a student I spent a week each year at Culzean. The art school had a 99 year rent back then in the hostel. (now where the second hand book shop is)
Stornoway is never cold in the winter because of the gulf stream. It is warmer than London....unfortunately it doesn't get warmer in the summer Sticki.
Thanks for all you lovely comments. (Karen!!!!) The last photo was taken at the end of a perfect day Hywel.
