Dare I say "Summer is here".

We have been very busy in the garden Barry and I. He is what I call a cut and burn gardener. Today it was cutting and as you can see he was on top of the world…or should I say the Laurel. We had it cut a few weeks ago but the gardeners didn’t have a tall enough scaffold to reach the top. Barry usually does it himself but has a sore neck for the rest of the summer. He goes up the inside of the bush and comes out the top in order to reach the centre……at least that is all he had to do!!! Things have finally started to grow here in Scotland, but the Rhodies are still in a huff. I am hoping the warmth will help the grass seed to grow and my hard work will finally be seen……that is another blog!!!! Here are a few photographs of the garden today.

Pic 4 is Rheum, but I do have L przewalskii, Othello, and desdemona. They are difficult to see in pics 2 & 3. I have them in "Garden".

I call that area my woodland garden as I grow woodland plants there. Barry has recovered from his hard work but I have to help him in the studio in return. Off I go....no rest for the wicked. :o)))

He looks very busy, your garden looks lovely Linda, I `d love a walled garden, they always make me think of one of my favourite books when I was a kid...

What a lovely garden you have. Glad it's not just my rhoddies that are sulking! Love your little dry stone wall/bench :)

Wonderful garden Linda - I could potter around there for hours and hours.

I love seeing all the maturity in your garden Linda! :)) I can just imagine the language as Barry negotiates the inside passage of the laurel and emerges at the top! lol :))

I do potter for hours and hours Kf. Barry calls the seat his rustic bench!! He built it last year. It is a peaceful place...you would never know you are in a city. The wall helps protect the garden from winds and keeps the garden very private.

The bench and the bluebell path are my faves. My bluebells are just going over now and being plucked out and in some instances dug out, if they can be reached. I do like your lovely crowded border. I like it that way myself. I have some unwelcome visitors to do battle with. Lots of rain has made everything grow like mad. 25o here today Linda....not to my taste....about 20 is OK.

Thanks Pixi. :o)
We have had a beautiful day here too Dorjac. We invited friends over for lunch and sat outside....using our rustic bench. It will be about 23 degrees here until Saturday. I am off to Inverness at the weekend so I hope the weather holds up til Sunday.

How the heck did I miss this blog, what a wonderful garden one of those sort of gardens that you can wander in and completely lose sense of time.

Not sure about your title to this blog Linda.....cos we are all still waiting. In Essex my usually parched patch has been blessed with so much water recently, it has exploded with height and colour and rampant flowerings of all sorts, nearly all very welcome.....but still no summer worth speaking of. I'm just glad my garden is feeling good for a change, and I don't have to run round desperately watering all the time.

Well here we are in July.......summer lasted about ten days in May!!!!! Thank you for your lovely comments Stroller and Dorjac. My garden is also growing fast with so much rain but the roses are suffering. You wait all year and they go brown before flowering. :o( On the other hand I have flowers this year that I didn't have last year. That's gardening for you.
