What a joy it is to look out my sitting room window and see this Pyracantha Soleil d’Or. It is a warm sight during the cold days.

Isn't it a lovely tall one? You will be very popular with the local blackbirds!

This has been the best year ever for these wonderful berries Jane. I just love it. The funny thing is, the birds only eat the berries once they have eaten the red berries on other shrubs Snoop. I wonder why they went black Steragram. I must look that one up. Is it the weather or something attacking it?

It seems the bush can suffer from Scab (a fungal disease) and Fireblight (a bacterial disease). Yours sounds like Scab. The fruit turns black.

Thanks Hywel. It is a treat for all of the birds. I have to cut some Holly with berries before the Blackbirds eat them all or I would have none for Christmas.

I have this Pyracantha - well similar berries anyway. Nothing near as gorgeous as your specimen though Linda - it's a beauty!

Linda it was Snoop's berries that went black. My pyracantha is rather hidden - keep meaning to take out the privet that's in front of it but its the sort of job that's sop easy to put off...
