End of the season

Well, I don’t know about you but my garden is closing up shop for 2017. I took some photos today as the leaves turn yellow, red and brown.
You may notice a couple of Barry’s homemade cloches. They cover a couple of Agapanthus that I intend to move in the spring to pots and sit them in the sun.
It is still very mild here and frost free but winter is just round the corner. :0/

Thankyou for giving a peep into your garden Linda,I love all the different shades of the greenery, hoping we have another long autumn and very short winter, am I dreaming , lol...

Still looks great though Linda. And those cloches are great! Can you ask Barry to run me up half a dozen please? ;) not really, I don't need any. But they are cracking and cloches are so expensive to buy.

Thanks for taking us on a trip around your garden, Linda!

Your garden looks peaceful in its autumn gown :)

Your garden still looks lovely and very neat and tidy. I do know what you mean by the feeling that it has come to the end of the season. Ours has, and it seems ready for a rest! Trouble is stormy winds are on their way again so I hope the garden has a bit of fight left in it for another day or two!

Your garden is lovely looks peaceful here in Wales we use the word Cwtch to describe a cubbyhole or to give someone a cuddle or a hug the 1st of your photos fits that word ...? It sort of hugs you .

Thankyou Siris, Linclass, Balcony and Hywel for your lovely comments. It feels peaceful out there in the garden but a new storm is on its way. We had stronger winds during the last storm so I am hoping for a quieter time this weekend. Karen and I discussed the wind blow by blow on Facebook.
It must have been bad for you Hywel in Wales.
Hope it isn't too bad for you Wildrose.
The plant 3d, is Pyracantha Soleil d'Or. The shrub usually has red berries but this one has wonderful orange berries. They will get a deeper colour in about a week. In the summer it has a beautiful white blossom. Great plant.
I like the name Cwtch......odd spelling. It is my favourite place to sit as it is a sun trap. Just outside the kitchen door. On the left is Barry's rustic bench, built in stone and slabs. He is quite handy at times, Kidsgarden.
The cloches were a byproduct of the same greenhouse as the cold frame, Karen. I noticed they used tie wraps to construct their cold frames on Gardener's World last night.
Barry uses them all the time on his do-it-yourself jobs.

I've only just found out what that word means from a friend on FB, at first I thought it was something made up in a Harry Potter book, sorry to any welsh people, I don't mean it as an insult..I can see what you mean K'gran it is a lovely little cubby....

It wasn't too bad in this area actually Linda.

Because we have a large wall round the garden and it is on a slope it is also wind free.
Glad you were ok Hywel. It was not as bad as we thought it might be here.

I'm glad to hear that Linda. Today is rough though :D

At least the plants are dying back and we would be removing the leaves anyway. Our Gunnera was a bit bent over. It is the house and trees that worry me. I'm not sure if the high winds are tracking towards us next.
Green fingers crossed.

Yesterday was a very wild day in the south west and everyone seemed to stay indoors, no cars went by at all. The wind seems to have done a decent tidy up but I haven't looked too closely yet!

the garden looks lovely. and they are never fully asleep just re assimilating and working on next years growth.
my shrubs are also turning yellow etc and the beech tree is shedding its leaves like confetti.

"Cwtch". Lovely word! Our dog knew what that word meant! Not a hug, usually, just directions to get to his basket. Even today my "English" husband will use that phrase talking to the cat. It was the first Welsh phrase he learnt. (My OH, not the cat!!!)
I think your garden looks great, Linda, so green, and soothing, and welcoming.

The correct spelling is 'cwtsh' ... It's a Welsh word and 'ch' has a different sound in Welsh to what it does in English, so it's really spelt 'cwtsh'. Many people Anglicise it but that's the wrong spelling.

How does it sound Hywel, Kidsgran or Eirlys? I can imagine a cat responding to the sound.
We managed to miss out with the winds this time, Wildrose.
I hope the plants will work hard on assimilating next years growth, Seaburngirl.
