A cold night in store

In Glasgow we are expecting the temperature to drop to -5 degrees tonight.
I have put some plant under shrubs while my Gunnera has some polly bags over the new growing points. I planted a Camellia last week so it is covered too. Hope you plants are ok during this cold spell. It should be warmer by the end of next week.

Jings, that a cold night, Linda..my parents are in Ayrshire. I’m just literally off the telephone with them and they’ve been saying it’s going to be very cold there overnight. Think we’re - 1 tonight here in Hull. I’m right next to the Humber estuary. You look like you’ve really taken care for the overnight temp drop.

Lucky plants to have so much care from you Linda that`s why you have such a lovely garden.

Freezing tonight and last night. I have covered everything again. The Gunnera has been covered in its large leaves but the new growth was showing.

Even here in East Anglia we have had lots of frost. According to the Met Office blog April was, officially, the frostiest in 60 years! It was also the driest, in some regions, in the last 83 years! 😱
Now we are in only the third day of May & it has rained a little here this afternoon, not nearly enough to even wet the top 1/4 inch of the soil! 😱 The temps are still low for the average time of year as well!
