You must be over-joyed to see them back. How beautiful they are, if they were in my garden I don't think any work would be done while I watched them!

fabulous colour,we have nothing that colour in the UK are they some kind of finch ,my only clue is the beak.

Actually, they are members of the thrush family and are of medium size. They are voracious insect eaters and will clean out a garden of any pest in no time at all. I provide them with live and dried mealworms as a reward for nesting in my garden. Due to competition for nesting sites from the aggressive house wren, amongst others, their numbers were down and had become a rare sight. Those concerned including myself provided nesting boxes in fields and in our gardens and now this beauty has become a common sight again. Come to think of it this is why there are no slugs in my garden and my hostas remain untouched.

How marvellous to have them nesting in your garden & to have helped increase their numbers.
I've raised my hostas up in pots this year to avoid slugs, I could feed quite a few of those gorgeous blue birds.
