Felcos !

I’ve been needing a new pair of secateurs for a while now and have been making-do (badly) with a cheap pair i bought a couple of years ago.

I looked at the Felco website about a month ago and saw they had reductions on most the range and last evening i finally got around to placing an order.
Not exactly a large one but hey !

I’ve just had an email telling me the item’s been dispatched and will arrive this week, so i’m very pleased with the whole experience !

I think that these good experiences with gardening companies are worth shouting about because i’ve had bad ones (experiences) with couldn’t-care-less companies and it leaves you feeling like a lot of large concerns just want your money and are content with poor customer service along the way, let alone afterwards.

Yes, good point, Louise...
Worth giving praise when due, to gardening companies.
I hope you are pleased with your secateurs...
.. happy snipping and clipping.Lol.

Which shrub will be the first to have a haircut ?

I'd not shout 'till they arrive lol, I think the future is Internet shopping and that will create competition which will ensure good standards. you didn't say how much, was it a snip?

Heron I still prefer to go and choose my purchases.

I got to try out (handle) 4 different pairs of Felco's, before deciding which felt most comfortable, at a farmers equipment outlet and payed a sensible price for them. (I actually asked if they had been mispriced !). My next stop was the garden centre half a mile down the road, for some compost. If I had bought them there, they would have cost £20 more. I was so pleased, I got in my car, went back to the farmers shop and treated myself to a holster.....and I was still quids in !!!
I admit, in my experience, life's not usually like that - but I'll tell you - I couldn't wipe the silly grin off my face for days......lol !!! :-)

I do quite a lot of internet shopping because i work silly hours and if i get the chance to shop 'in person' it's rare, so that's why i do it.

The Felco site, unlike other stockists of their product, have a sale on and a lot of their secateurs are well reduced.
If the main company are having a sale on their items WHY aren't the stockists who sell them ????
Seems a bit of a swizz to me.

By the way TT, it'll be the Escallonia hedge !
It's got a lot of thin whippy growth and i think it needs tfor those stems/shoots to be cut to the ground.

Hi Louise, I guess I make about 80 percent of my purchases on the internet, if you know what you want, you can hunt out the best deals. I haven't bought a cd or dvd in a shop for years. Unlike you, it's not silly working hours for me, I just hate shopping ...lol :-)
ps I've just put a photo on my homepage for you :-)

That sums it up well Muddy ..... if you know exactly what you want and you've done your homework it's a very good way of buying.
I bought my car that way 7 years ago and saved myself huge megabucks .... it's the best car i've ever bought !

I love my Felco secateurs had them over 10 years now, a gift when I left my job, to move down South, would not be without them, best you can buy.......

Felcos are brilliant, comfortable, strong, take a really sharp edge and are easy to find if you put them down all over the place (like I do) - and if you ever need a spare part the company are great for that too! I'm sure you will find them a pleasure to use, Louise.

I agree - you won't regret THAT purchase, Louise! I used to go through the cheap ones so fast - my Felcos are just great. :-)))

happy snipping louise ;o))

27 Jan, 2010

They arrived today :-)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I'll try and exercise restraint though and not use them 'til the end of February- beginning of March ..... i don't want the newly naked plants to get frosted and die back :-/

That was quick! I bet you can't stop yourself 'snipping' something, though. LOL.

Tsk !

Hi Louise, my Felco's have got to be one of the best gardening tools I've ever had. Apparently, you can even send them away to be serviced. I get John to keep mine in good order.

29 Jan, 2010

I took them out and used them this afternoon Dawn and they are a dream to use, a real dream !!!

29 Jan, 2010

I agree Louise - those cheap ones are so rubbish and frustrating to use. Dr Bob told me once that he's had his Felco's for something like nearly 50 years, so I dont think we'll need another pair ever again.

29 Jan, 2010

Oh dear, they'll not make much money out of us then will they ;-))

29 Jan, 2010

At the price they are Louise, its just as well we wont need to purchase again.

29 Jan, 2010

I bought mine (direct) at their reduced sale prices Dawn :-)))
Even with P&P they were STILL cheaper than buying the same thing from another stockist !

29 Jan, 2010

A bargain, then. Even better! :-)))

29 Jan, 2010

Absolutely !

29 Jan, 2010

We like bargains, good for you Louise.
