Well I started with 2 plugs and after much attention, protection and love ,only one flowered as yet! I must say it is very beautiful and a collection of them would be even more so(Perhaps in the Autumn). The colour is a sky blue with a tinge of light purple at the base of each flower.
I quite understand how ,unless you live on the West Coast of Wales or Scotland, they aren’t the easiest but we got there!

It’s gorgeous Julia … how did you do it?! I bought seed of poppy Amazing Grey and had no luck (probably should have tried under cover instead of sowing direct). So I was comforted to see a grower at Chelsea who showed his ONE AND ONLY Amazing Grey poppy!

Plugs are much more sensible Julia!

Lovely! You’ve really done a wonderful job nurturing these little blue beauties, Julia. I do hope you see some more flowers soon.

The problem you have in the South is that blue poppies like a cool summer! They like Scotland. I know it’s really frustrating, but just think of all the plants I can’t grow because it’s too cold, our growing season is too short etc. your poppy is beautiful Julia. I hope it comes back for you. They self-seed here, but not a lot. As for the grey poppy Sheila….I had exactly the same result from a packet of seed. One flower! And it’s generally the same here with all poppies from seed…nothing.

I'm sorry I missed this Julia, but very well done! Such a beautiful blue. I do hope it does well for you. Keep it cool. I grew the blue and a white one years ago. I hope you have great success with yours..
