Sunday morning walk.Again!

Weather just perfect for our walk today, crisp, sunny and dry!
On our way the Forest of Dean railway was running picking up passengers at Lydney and continuing to Parkend.Actually there were 2 engines.
The signal box was relocated from Heysham Harbour in 1996…moved in its entire original construction.

We continued on to the lake….the water was crystal clear with deep reflections.

The following 2 photos show the river Lyd which feeds the lake

Couldn’t leave before taking some photos of 1 of my favourite trees…
The majestic Silver Birch..

Called into Hanley’s farm shop for a coffee (we did indulge in a very large piece of chocolate cake which we shared!)Rounded off the morning just right.

Lovely photos Julia. We lived in Rodley when OH worked in Mitcheldean in the middle of the forest, 1973 to 1979 but I don’t remember seeing a railway!

Thanks for sharing Julia, it looks a lovely walk for you. Have the leaves already fallen where you are. I was expecting the silver birch still to be in leaf. Things are staying put so far where I am..
