A week in the life of a Brugmansia Bloom

Hi All, After all the kind comments made after my Brugmansia got ravaged by the hail, earlier this year, I thought I would share how its getting on now.
Its reached the great height of nearly 7’ 6inches tall, and has now decided, in November, that it wants to start flowering. Just to give and Idea how huge it is, This is me, and I am 5’7..(Not a very flattering pic I know)
This week this bloom has turned from green to beautiful pink, with an gorgeous evening perfume
As you can see, it has suffered a little with wind burn, and there are still several blooms to open
And all this is self sown, and still going strong at the base of it. But…….It is now the middle of November, and the temperatures have got to nosedive soon, So this may be the only bloom I do see this year, before cutting it right back an moving back to the greenhouse………..Well….At least I saw one……

Thanks all.....Sanbaz its too tall for the greenhouse unfortunately Derekf....Yes I do spray during warm weather. The Frangipani I have grown from seed, was bought from Thompson and Morgan.....Young Daisy....you got to keep trying, This is outside our back door at the moment, and the perfume in the evening is unbelievable.......Claireinbude..Yes when they 1st appear out of the pod they are green, but start to change colour to pink a day or so later and gradually get deeper.....

My goodness Milky its huge, how on earth are you going to move that. Its a georgous shade of pink and congratulations for your first bloom wonderful and such a lovely display at the bottom of the pot.
It reminds me of Jack and the bean stalk lol, so you will have to send Ray to climb it and get hen that lays the golden eggs, and pot of gold lol hehe

What a lovely looking plant Maureen. Very healthy. I love the bloom and so big too. Wow.
I haven't tried Brugs yet. They seem to suffer from spider mite badly here due to the lack of humidity so I'm hesitant to give it a go.

It looks fantastic Milky hope you get to see it flower.
Where can you get these from ? Any where or specialist gcs and do they need any special treatment i want to give them a go next year .....Thanks Mushy..

Mushy, this origianally came from T&M's, but I would presume this if you googled it then you should come up with a few retailers. I am going to try to take some cuttings next year as Lindak suggested that she was reasonably successful with them...

Just found this Milky what an amazing plant, we are attempting to grow some this year!! not sure what to expect now?

They are easy Dotty.....Just plenty of water and regular feeding, but they do grow huge........and then need over wintering in a frost free place.....
19 Mar, 2010
But you do cut them down in the winter dont you ? you are not going to tell me you have to keep a plant that size all winter, indoors Milky?
19 Mar, 2010
Yes Dotty cut it back as low as you can......
20 Mar, 2010
Thank goodness for that, I am being a bit previous here, the seeds have not germinated yet....lol
