Hi Folks, we’re back..after a glorious holiday on this lovely island. Thought you might like to share some of our photos….

This is the harbour at Pythagorion where we stayed

and this is Pythagoras himself…This statue stands in the harbour

and this gives a view of how far Samos is from Turkey….which is the mountain in the background here…..

Another harbour view from our trek up the hills behind the village

This is all that remains of the ancient fortification built to keep out invaders It was built by Logothetis, but unfortunately the outer wall were not erected on solid foundations, so they collapsed and let the Turks in……

Logothetis himself………standing outside the church……..

Now for some flora……….

Huge Lantana’s…Just made Ray stand there so you could see the size and beautiful Acacia’s these were growing everywhere…..

Spotted these 3 inch long caterpillers munching their way through the bourganvillea’s……..

Another view of the church….

This little chap ran accross in front of us….Not so little thoigh as he must have been about a foot long..

and……This was taken on our balcony as we watched the sun go down every evening………… I do hope I didnt bore you all too much…I know what its like seeing other peoples holiday pic’s, but it was a lovely place and wanted to share with you……….

I agree with others....on a grey, damp day it's so refereshing and cheering to share your photos. I liked the white bush that was trailing over the planter...would you know what it is?

I've never visited anywhere in Europe (except for 4 days in Paris)...would love to see some of the beautiful places I've seen photos of here on GOY....including Samos (not in high summer though..the heat would do me in...lol).

Thanks for sharing your holiday with us.

Lovely blog Milky and great pics, it doesn't look 'spoiled'. Almost felt I was there, and what beautiful plants you managed to find. What were the people like, did you brush up on your greek? :-)

Hi Bornagain....yes its very unspoilt, and the people are so welcoming.....We love the way that everything is at a layed back pace....maybe because of the heat.....and yes...the greek is coming on quite nicely now.......I can easily ask for Ouzo or Feta cheese........or even Mousaka.......Lol.....
