Wonderful watercolours

Nope for a change my blog isn’t about growing veggies! Yesterday David & I visited Kildrummy Castle Garden which is near Alford in Aberdeenshire. Garden was created about a 100 years ago in an old quarry and was looking very good
This is a photo of the garden – masses of Rhododendrons, a water and wetland garden and some interesting primulas which were just not far enough out to take pix. of…
Then I went into the tearoom and discovered this original water colour by a local artist who started painting in her 80s and produced this painting when she was around 100 years old
Japanese Anemones
And the two prints we also bought one of Bluebells the other of Narcissus Poeticus
Hopefully David will put up more pix of the garden for you all

I can't imagine painting like that either... I will add two more paintings of Mary's to the blog... we only bought prints of these rather than the actual original but they still look wonderful - we actually met Mary a few times as we are members of the Scottish Rock Garden Club and Mary was an Aberdeen member - I remember her in her wheelchair at the Aberdeen Show when she was around 100 years old and still bright as a button

Interesting blog, Moon grower.
Wow, Mary must have had very good eye-sight at 100 years old... and a steady hand....

Beautiful botanical art!!!!!! It takes a huge amount of skill and great observation to produce work like that.
I can only hope that I am still able to paint when I'm 100 (if I last that long!)

Wonderful paintings - what an artist she was! I hope I can paint like that by the time I'm 100 (if I practice every day).

Lovely garden and lovely paintings too, can't imagine many being able to paint that beautifully at that age, just incredible. More respect for her too, certainly from me!
