Looks good enough for a christmas tree just place lights on it. I bet it was a man who chose the plant. ;o)

lol Morgana; might well be a man who chose the shape...

lmao, Bamboo that too, I have noticed over the years when going all over to look at plants, the men always chose impatients, so I say it must be their nature which they see in flower.

Well, you know Freud - everything was always about sex...
27 Sep, 2009
Well as I have so many relatives work in hospitals and careing proffession, we all die because of a sexual desease, which could effect the heart etc.

My goodness Bamboo that is so pretty... you English people have such taste in gardens, it's so green over there...

Hmm, well green it may be, but it's also dark, damp, wet, windy and chilly, now!

LOL :o)

How was that done, will we ever know, its like a living christmas tree There's clever folk at Wisley.

It'll be a frame with 'pockets' for soil or pots to be planted into, Sunne... they haven't done this for a couple of years because of the problem with Impatiens Downy Mildew.

Lovely, Bamboo

I'd better give impatiens a miss. Lol.
Still, it's quite eyecatching.
Maybe do a wire hour-glass figure & plant a few climbers. =-O

Yes, impressive stuff - hours and hours and hours of some badly paid poor soul's time, lol. Amazing how it all works out, if I try anything like it, inevitably some of the plants don't do well, and others do.

yes i know wot u mean can be very disheartening wen that happens

that's spectacular! I've never managed to grwo any from seed, and the ones I've bought as plugs never seem to last very long.
21 Nov, 2013
No, well sadly they won't, now, Fran155. Wisley has not done these arrangements for the last 3 years because of Impatiens downy mildew, which is rife everywhere and for which there's no treatment.
22 Nov, 2013
thanks, Bamboo, I'll give future tries a miss, I think.
There must have been one heck of a strong support structure for that tower.
22 Nov, 2013
The new guinea type impatiens are not prone to mildew, so you could grow those, but they're not any use for making this type of display. I think the structure is simply strong wire over a basic metal frame... that's what they used for the 'green wall' at Westfield in Shepherds Bush

When I saw the small picture I thought it was a Christmas tree. A lot of thought and work involved. Automatic watering comes to mind too.
