They are special aren't they Deida. You don't see many these days. People use slug pellets and I can understand why, but it has depleted the stocks for birds.

He's a beauty, you are so lucky having him visit.

24 Nov, 2009

Thanks Dawn.glad you liked the picture of my new visitor

Linda , yes they are so special. I blame it on shortage of trees and hedges..
Neighbours and farmers are going berserk in cutting at the moment .My heart bleeds for the birds and wildlife...

24 Nov, 2009

Such a lovely bird always a joy to see beautiful pic.. Things are slowly improving Deida fewer use slug pellets and farmers being given subsidies for wild areas and encouraged to put in hedge rows rather than rip them out.

Thanks BB

Youre welcome Deida .. agree many things were done in name of progress but when read how many love wildlife think we can all make a small difference that when joined together ...

24 Nov, 2009

The farmers perhaps don't realise that it is the hedgerows that protect their fields from the ravages of the weather. The hedgerows are a haven for the wildlife and mankind has done a lot of damage in unbalancing natures structure so that if continue as we are what will we have left?
