We don't get Starlings here, not a one !!!
In the last garden we had them by the flock-load !
For that matter, we don't get much here really :-(

Aw....wonder why not Louise.....all those Cider apples there too! Mmmm we have plenty of Starlings...their chill out spot is the church roof which is next door, then straight into the garden for any tidbits......rrrrrr.......

I can only think that it's because this garden used to be a grass only place, it's only in the three years since i've been here that shrubs have arrived !
There wouldn't have been any shelter for them to dart into here.
Last winter we had a few visitors so hopefully, slowly, they'll increase !

I.m sure they will now....all your lovely plants to hide amongst and peck about in!

When we moved here it was all grass Louise , it takes time to grow the shrubs that they like to hang out in .. we managed it and we now have almost more birds than we can feed ..... LOL ..

Amy, it's good to hear that you've overcome the same problem with good results .... the shrubs are coming on now, so hopefully soon .... more visitors :-/

Great picture Janey :-)
Come to think of it we don't get starlings here either, loads of blackbirds though counted nine on the grass yesterday, have several wrens too, wasn't too long ago they were quite rare, one looking at me through kitchen window other day sat on the window ledge.

Aw...thanks all.....its only this last year that the ivies and shrubs have grown near the cottage, giving the birds places to peck about in and hide in, I sprinkle meal worms in the tubs and that keeps them flitting around.
How lovely Simbad to have the Wrens, such a weeny bird with a fabulous voice, and looking at you through the window....wow!

Bet that was a treat though BB...rainy or not and they'll love your wild garden.
Years ago when we were kids, we had a flock of Waxwings over from Russia....all in Mum's apple tree! Fabulous sight!
