I wonder what they are. I can see a red bib on them. How big were they GG?

These are unusual. I've never seen them before. I did discover looking around a bit myself that you've 500 species that come through Arizona. I'm thinking these are up from Mexico rather than down from anywhere. Seems I've seen one in Mexican art before.

Looking in my birds of Britain and Europe the closest I could find is the American robin It says the the general character resembles the blackbird Says it calls Kwik Kwik Kwik and a softer song like a thrush Pit Pit Pit. HOpe this helps.

Amazing flock Gg, yes like Lindak and Sixpence say....there have been pics of American Robins on here before...similar to ours but larger I think and without the blue/grey feathering.

Our american robin doesn't flock and the red belly wrapps all the way down to the white down around the legs. These seem to have larger heads and beak. Seems the one top left has an orange head and none of the others. Wonder if they are a harem with one male?

I'm thinking that the "red" on them is actually Yellow and these are yellow headed blackbirds.....

It looks like the American version of the British Redstart. Breeds in southern Arizona, New Mexico, and western Texas. Winters south of U.S.-Mexico border. I think its called an American or Painted Redstart.

No, I don't think so. Redstarts have black heads and orange on their bodies. These are the other way around.

Looks close Gilli. Closest I've seen so far. They do seem most like blackbirds to me, some type of blackbird.

Yellow headed blackbirds for sure. A western variety only. Great shot!
