He's got bowel cancer, aswell as kidney failure.

Hello smokey hope your feeling a little better.... my yorkies are going deaf.....

I feel for you clarice.. as my yorkies are nearly 14 and 15 and are gettting very frail....

Bless them quite a few years back i had a alsation and she was 13 1/2 when she died(cancer again) but for about 2yrs before she lost all her earing and to get her attention i had to go and touch her and then do hand signals to her she picked them up quite well.

Scotty is quite deaf.. but ella can hear a bit more.... i often have to do some kind of signal to him when i want him to go outside.... i have to put them out every hour during the day......so i dont get any puddles....

Concider it done Jacque, been to iceland this morning (as he as to have tuna and chicken only,)and in iceland you can get really big bags of chicken portions for £3-50 where at asda there cheap bags are £2-99 and not half as many, but what i do is steam cook a few at a time then shred them up for him, as for tuna can't get him to touch it at all.

that is a nice picture of Smokey,Clarice.My friends cat won't eat Tuna either,so if he is happy with his chicken,at least you know he is eating something good.:o))

I have to clap very loudly so that Chloe hears me. Sometimes I touch her to get attention and she jumps out of her skin! It is so difficult as our pets get older. Chloe is 16 1/2 and sometimes has wobbly days but then is like a puppy again just for a few moments :)

Hello Smokey, hope you enjoy your chicken! Carol when Polly was poorly I used to make chicken broth with rice, she loved it and it was the only thing that she could digest as she grew weaker.

aww he looks cute carol, has he lost some weight to with his cancer :o(

Thanks for telling me that Carole, Sandra if i go back before his kidneys started playing up he was 10.2LB, he as slowly lost alot of weight but over a week ago he was only 6LB, but when i took him again on Wednesday he was 6.8LB, TT Smokey says thanks for the compliment, and he says miaw to Blodyn.

Smokey's weight gain is a positive thought for you Clarice.I'm sure he must be feeling better in himself too.:o))

Thats what i keep telling myself, cant give him any more effection as he gets it all the time, thinking of it he's always been very loving and wonting to be with me :o))

thats good he has gained some weight carol, should make him feel a bit better in himself :o))

Have you tried him with prawns Clarice? I know you say he only has to have chicken or tuna but if he enjoys something different it is worth it .When Oscar was ill we tried lots of different things with her (eating was her favourite pastime!) She loved her prawns and her favourite was chicken pakora lol !

When i go to asda in morning i will get some and try him with some.

How is Smokey doing Clarice?

Thanks for asking how Smokey is, he does'nt seem to bad, although he as stopped going out full stop now, all he seems to do at moment is sleep on his footstool that he is on in this photo, think its because its warm near radiator, he only gets off to eat, use the littler tray, and sit on my knee all night, will now more when he goes back to vets next Tuesday.

Thanks alot TT, hope they will trim is claws for him with him not going out he's not wearing them down, and they keep getting stuck on everything, like he takes the cover with him when he gets of footstool, and he can't get his claws out of it so i have to help him, they are getting stuck in carpet aswell, and he keeps meow for me to help him to get unstuck.xx

The same can happen with dogs that don't get exercise... the nails start to grow long...I hope the vet will be able to trim Smokey's claws without distressing him too much...

I was just looking at his photo again... he is still a VERY handsome boy for such a senior citizen. xxx

Smokey will feel much more comfortable,clarice,when he has his nails done.It must be awful for the poor animals that don't get the care they need.I wish you good luck too,when you go on Tuesday...x
