How lucky you are Amy. A see the odd one very occasionally. The colour is stunning in real life, isnt it, they really stand out. I hope they nest for you.

My trees are netted too Amy - I suppose we just have to be patient now and wait for those first leaves.

Great picture Amy they are such handsome birds, see them occasionally but like Hywel not ar often as when we lived at the cottage, see them here in Spring for the cherry blossom and in Autumn for the Rowan berries!

Thanks Phil , Carole and Angela ...... I feel very lucky to have these lovely birds , I make seed cakes up for them Angela in trays .. we buy huge sacks of sunflower seed from a farmer who grows them for bird food and wheat I mix it with other small grains ,peanuts and porridge oats whatever I can get hold of , melt some lard and then mix it all in and then let it set in the fridge .. . they love it , I have to make more almost every day ...........
