Thank you daylily~I am just waiting for this to come back into bloom,as got masses of buds on both! The Clematis Montana 'Elizabeth' is a bit of a monster, like all montanas, but she does flower her heart out for me, though if we didn't give it a good prune atfer, we would never get through the gateway lol! As usual for me, this was more accident than design,but I am so chuffed with it when it looks like this :~)) I also have a late dutch Honeysuckle over the arch, and that smells wonderful as you pass through to go up to the garden, as I am a great believer in companion planting and sensory gardening. thanks flori, i have a small philadelphus i was thinking of planting at the side for the scent and then a lager shrub behind this one such as a weigela or choisya which i have also in pots just need to get the border dug out first.!!! and a couple of climbers obviously!!!

It sounds really nice, and scent is so important of an evening , when you have the time to sit down and appreciate it. A garden should fill all the senses, touch, taste, smell,sight and sound. I have restricted sight, and never realised I was creating a sensory garden till someone pointed it out to me,but I wouldn't have it any other way now..........:~))

Choisya is a real plant of extremes don't you think ? The beautiful flowers smell so sweet and then when you crush the foliage it smells like pork luncheon meat - weird !!! Definitely earns it's place in the garden though. :-))

Lol, I have to totally agree with that Muddy ha ha ha! This is full of buds again this year, and if the weather stays kind, should be flowering very soon! I also have the 'Sundance' version too, which is a vibrant lime yellow green. That got hit quite badly by the frosts, but is slowly coming back. :~))

Thank you Bb! It looked good this Spring too~but I always have to cut the Choisya back after it has flowered or we would never get up the garden path lol!
