I've seen her do this twice now ..... it can't taste nice, surely !
I've also seen her stand on her back legs and drink from it ..... i'd not filled it up yet today and so she had to climb up there to reach the water level !!!

Little minx :-))

I think she can see her reflection :o)

perhaps she just fancies a drink...lol

What is it with cats - you change the water in their drinking bowl every day, they ignore it and either drink out of the toilet bowl or find a really manky puddle outside... First time I've seen one on a bird bath though, lol

bamboo your so right there, great pic louise :o)

Incomprehensible creatures, yes , when it comes to choosing their water - but Jessie seems to sniff different spots in the same dish of putrid-looking algae before choosing the "best". I suppose they know what they need !
Ever heard the expression - friendly bacteria ?

Nt to mention chlorine free - although that doesn't explain why mine preferred water from the toilet bowl (clean, I might add)

11 Mar, 2010

Henry turns his nose up at clean water in his own bowl when we're travelling - but drinks from puddles very happily! AND out of the watering cans while he's in the garden!

Strange, aren't they!

I find it slightly worrying really - what do they know that we don't about tapwater...

11 Mar, 2010

they must smell the chemicals bamboo :o(

.....preferring bird poop flavoured water to tap water .... hmmm :-/
It got cleaned out later on .... !

That is a lovely pic of Millie....well caught Louise!!! contrary creatures cats....all the ones we've had used to prefer "used" water too.....

so cute !

I must say I can't stand tap water either (unless boiled for tea) so I use a filter which does seem to help a bit.

Our Twinkle prefers the outside water and she does drink from the back of the dehumidifier. The water we get through the tap is quite nice. Drinkable straight from the tap.

My cats used to do this too - but little bit of warning if the bird bath is going down lots take her to the vets as my cadbury had a kidney disease and it was only as I caught him keep drinking lots from the bird bath that I realised - dont want to worry you but wanted to let you know??

16 Mar, 2010

Do you mean that she get the disease from drinking bird contaminated water ?
I did wonder if the birds would transmit disease :-(((

16 Mar, 2010

I expect it is if you catch your cat drinking lots of water Louise, One of my cats did this and I found out that she was diabetic but it was when she as getting older.

17 Mar, 2010

It is only cats,( usually older ones) who start drinking excessively that may have kidney disease......I do not think a spot of bird poo will hurt a cat, birds drink it all the time.....just why do birds poo in their drinking water?

18 Mar, 2010

Perhaps it's when they bathe in the water as well that they poo in it.

19 Mar, 2010

Nice habit eh?

19 Mar, 2010

'Maybe if I drink their special water I'll grow wings and THEN I'll catch 'em' :-))

29 Mar, 2010

LOL, you could have a point there ;-))
