I don't know what this is! I nearly trod on it so lifted it onto my camellia shrub. I hope I've done the right thing :)

I have just found this for you Gee-check out Leptoglossus occidentalis !
Western conifer seed bug,they live on conifers,eating seeds and buds.

Thanks, Aster. I guess this was an adult coming out of hibernation, it did seem rather slow and didn't move for ages. Seems they are quite widespread now.

Yes it seems they are Gee,a bit of a worry if you have lots of conifers :(
It probably overwintered in a shed.

It seems a bit choosy over which conifers it likes but I'll keep an eye on my little ones. I actually found it just outside my new shed (put up yesterday!). Maybe it wanted to move in :)
