Jane noticed the Tree Sparrows looking at the Collared Dove dozing in the sun when one pinched a moulting wing feather from it ..

Thanks all.It was quite funny to watch as the collared dove was preening a feather fluttered down and the female sparrow grabbed it.You can just see it on the rim of the nestbox hole !

That't brilliant, BB, I bet the poor dove didn't believe his eyes! Great photo.

Thankyou very much everyone....combed our pet rabbit this morning and left soft white fur on lawn...that soon went into the nest too ! At least the babies will be cosy !

Well captured....

Hahaha...now that's what I call "feathering the nest"....lol....:-) My hubby maintains that it's more entertaining watching the antics of the birds, squirrels and rabbits in the backgarden than it is watching television! Drama...comedy...pathos...it's all there!

Brilliant Ray/Jane, what patience you have, a real action shot.

Amazing photo and a great story to go with it too!

Thanks for all your kind comments.
Agree Lori...our wildlife keeps us amused / appalled/entertained in more or less equal measure !

Perhaps its been invited to a fan dance and needs the feathers for the fan ha ha. Brilliantly captured.

Lol..the speed with which this happened. The one flying is the female...she placed the feathewr in the entrance to the box.The male is on top of the box...calling the shots ! Lol
15 Apr, 2010
Lol that is nothing unusual about the male calling the shots ha ha ha.
Funny I seen a black bird on my fence with a feather going into my clematis the other week , grandson said when he looked, as if its been building a nest behind the clematis on the god father and fell down. I think its deserted it.
15 Apr, 2010
This sometimes happens Sixpence..they start to build then desert the nest.Maybe just want it to be perfect !
15 Apr, 2010
No Bonkers I think its because I have the squirrel running along the fence over the harbour bench looking in all those nest box's I had put up.
15 Apr, 2010
Ooops..that would do the trick alright ! But thats nature Sixpence. It all works out in the end...she will find the safest place she can to nest !
15 Apr, 2010
lol I know its nature, reminds me of that verse when I was at school hehe.
