Absolutely beautiful Bonkersbon. What size is your pond? We're planning to put one in sometime but it won't be very large. Our garden is quite small.

Thats a lovely waterlily gorgeous colour BB mine is doing well but no buds yet!

4 Jul, 2010

Do you have dragonfly larvae Hollyeves or waterboatmen beetles ? would have thought most things find those serated edges unpalatable ours just beginning to break the surface.

Even a small pond is always worth considering Claire it quickly becomes a magnet day and night we spent last night with bats and hedgehogs .. we inherited a very neglected garden and had no idea when started digging that and old out house had been knocked down and buried it ended up 22ft long 15ft wide and 5 feet deep in places .. the good news was that all the stones used to edge pond were already there ! Did I say we when referring to digging ..if only lol if you love wildlife in your garden its probably the best thing you can create.

Thanks PP is yours very old ? Still time this summer though.

very pretty ray/jane, i had two flowers but didnt last long, is that normal,

4 Jul, 2010

Yes...shame...ours only last 3 or 4 days...did you notice they close up when it rains San ?

4 Jul, 2010

yes i did notice jane, first one wasnt as good as second but still loved seeing them, also i noticed pond flys seemed to love eating the lily pads.

4 Jul, 2010

funny that San...this is actually the second one...the first did not even open before it died off ! Somethings nibbling our leaves...but not sure what !

4 Jul, 2010

Hi BB it is a new one as we have only had the pond a few weeks so maybe it wont flower this year.

4 Jul, 2010

No,Pp,ours didnt flower the first year...then three flowers the next....and yet to see how many this...It has spread significantly though !

4 Jul, 2010

Thanks Eileen...

4 Jul, 2010

how strange, well all we could see was lots of flys settling on leaves and the leaves going brown and holes getting bigger,,

4 Jul, 2010

The little beasties !! Lol..

4 Jul, 2010

Beautiful water lily BB.....

4 Jul, 2010

What a gorgeous centre stunning worth having a pond just to grow these.

5 Jul, 2010

i think it might be water snails ... as i saw 2 black snail like things near them...

5 Jul, 2010

Very pretty Jane/Ray. I don't have a pond but Hubby would like one. Don't know if I could cope with the frogs mind you. Lol. :o))

5 Jul, 2010

Thank you for all your lovely comments...Holly...our pond has been teeming with snails for ages...they mostly live on algae...
Linda...dont you like frogs ?

5 Jul, 2010

This looks delightful BB, cant even see a bud on mine.

6 Jul, 2010

Afraid not. Silly really, cos as a child I used to collect frog spawn, My Dad made me an aquarium to keep it in, I'd nurture them and feed them, then once the tadpole lost its tail, I'd take them back to the local pond. I thought I was helping to save them so they wouldn't get squished or eaten by predators. Lol Just the thought of what I did makes me shudder. Lol

6 Jul, 2010

Thanks Stroller....hope yours flowers very son..
Linda...isnt that strange....thing is if you do make a pond chances are the frogs will find it...sorry...

6 Jul, 2010

Yes I know. Eldest Daughter has a pond. Quite a few years old now, and whenever Hubby and I visit, obviously, I'll go to have a look at her fish and the Grandchildren shout, 'Watch out for the frogs' then laugh hysterically at the speed I move. ha ha ha. :o))

6 Jul, 2010

Very nice too!

Don't think ours is too far off now as there is a bud above the water so just sitting and a hoping:o))

7 Jul, 2010

Sure deep down you know they wont hurt you Linda but easy to say .. guess a pond may be stretching things for you .

Little more sun OB fingers crossed as much as we need some rain it ll happen over night when blooms close and protect them from it .

7 Jul, 2010

Ah....sun! That's possibly why mine is taking a tad longer then because the pond is in front of the garage and facing North. The garden is South facing so the pond gets minimal sunshine!

Ah well, it's surely there so will shine a torch on it and keep praying...lol!

7 Jul, 2010

Lovely lily Bonkers. The flowers always look as though they are made of coloured wax.

8 Jul, 2010

That's a stunner - love it! :-)))

Thanks so much Deida.

11 Jul, 2010

Is this a small variety Bonkersbon? It's lovely.

13 Apr, 2013

Hi Lindak...it is quite small but has grown and spread the last couple of years. Strangely last year there were about ten successive flowers yet most did not open fully due to all the rain !! Hoping for better luck this year...:)

13 Apr, 2013

I'm looking for a really small one to go into a half barrel and a small reed of some kind.
