"Artist in Residence"

My daughter finished painting the interior of our pirate's chest today, after I had drilled drainage holes in the base. Want to get this planted up at the weekend with our themed bedding plants, which are ready for planting out now.

Great pic....,
drainage holes ? just how much paint did Eilidh use ? ;o)

Should have tried drilling the holes with her in the box - a great magician's trick, LOL!! No paint went down the holes, Tt, The mega surplus soaked into her clothes, which were all "past their best" items of mine, lol!!

Lol. Your old clothes ?
... a whole new meaning to recycling in the garden ;o)

Yes, have even put those into the chest to act as drainage and save on the amount of compost needed to fill, lol! Even then, she managed to get her bare bits covered in paint, so may take me some time to eradicate all traces of black gloss from the bath! More a case of "Curse of the Black Ring", rather than "Pearl", Hehe!!!! I don't care, she had great fun!

How did I miss this? What a lovely photo of a very busy little body! Glad to hear she didn't have to go back to school with black spots all over her :)

Even better, Gee - no school to go back to!! Our school hols are earlier than your own. They broke off on 2nd July, get only 6 weeks nowadays, go back mid-August, but then get 2 weeks off in October, which is great, too. :-))

How nice to have the school holidays spread out a bit, David. Enjoy :)

Will do, Gee, Thank You! I finished work on 2nd, too, and not back until 21st, so having a lot of fun and days out. Beauty of October is that we all have our birthdays during that break, and October here is perfect for a few days away, so tend to wait till then to "go away". One week usually coincides with main half-term, but, the beauty of having the 2 weeks to play with, means we can avoid the expensive week. Having said this, we are having a few days just before school resumes, near Aviemore, which is one of the children's (and my) favourite outdoor "playgrounds". Got a cottage through a work colleague for only £75 for 4 nights' hire, so was too good to miss out on - can't wait! :-))

Wow, David, what a bargain holiday! I vaguely remember visiting Aviemore, I think it was aboaut 40 odd years ago!!

Lovely to see your daughter having a go at painting ye olde tresure chest. Are ye going to fill it with ye golden flowers and foliage?
Ye dreaded black spot.........Hope ye put the right flag up while ye painted.
Hope you have a super time with your children David. The time and length of the school holidays in Scotland sounds good to me. October can be a really good month weatherwise. The Cottage sounds lovely and gives you plentuy of freedom to come and go. Take care and have fun!!

A lot more to do there now, Gee, so we usually have a short break there, either easter, Summer, or the October hols. love October, Linda. Arrgh, I never thought of ye dreaded Black Spot, me mind were more intent on the black tide line in the bath!!!! Glad we chose black for the chest, now. :-))

Almost finished planting up now. looks like she could be standing in a hole in the ground inside the box, Arlene. :-)))
