First of many long hot summer days cooking us all back inside! This is the first day I got all those mesembreathemum to open, a fiery pink corner. They suffered a bit later from the heat, though I thought they would love it.

Thank you all, very positive comments. :-) I have been so happy how it worked out this year, and there are still things to bloom. I tried sticking with the pink and yellow theme, colors I've underused in the past, it has been stimulating.
I have checked the heaters and everything is already running. Wild to hear it is so cool there, just a tiny bit warmer than here!

Your steps look so nice with all the potted blooms.....and the wood cabin I love!

Thank you Whistonlass. I love putting pots all down the steps, though I tried this year just to cap them at the top with the two yellow pots. I just can't stop adding more! :-) I'm glad you love the cabin. A nice classic log. My landlord did a fantastic job constructing it.

My sister and her husband began constructing a log cabin in B.C. many years ago....they got as far as the roof before her husband had to abandon the build due to ill health and they had to sell up the property. Turned out the altitude was too high for him with his heart condition. It was a beauty too...felled all the trees on their acreage, stripped them of bark and manhandled them into position...not an easy job with no electricity! I often wonder if it was ever completed by the new owners. I do miss the timber construction of houses as here in the UK most everything is made from brick (gotta love the natural stone houses though).
It's lovely that you have an obsession with adding pots to your steps...they just fit in somehow.

Building of that sort is very ambitious and fulfilling. Sorry to hear that they couldn't finish. I have a friend building in the same manner and they are getting there, but so much work without power. Sadly the downfall of these wooden structures is fire, we lose houses here left and right. This one is well protected as I have a big yard and area, very uncommon as many leave the trees right up to the doorstep.
We haven't any stone houses, they are a real wonder to me. Not even much brick. Such a young place in comparison to most places, the oldest structures are barely 100 years old.
Glad you like the step thing. I'm trying to break it as I can barely get up in to the loft these days as is. I've lots of garden inside as well. They just went through their summer drought......lol. I have a hard time getting to them too in summer but fixing them up now.
