This was a gift from Hywel last year - and it has flowered! Thanks, Hywel.

My new variegated ones have precisely one tiny bud between the two of them! I'm especially pleased with this one having bloomed as it was a gift. :-))) The oldest plant I have has so many flowers this year! It shouldn't have, because it's facing west and gets sunshine. It's the old story - plants can't read!

I had to split mine up this year they had become to crowded for where they were !
6 Oct, 2010
I should really split the old clump - you're right. Maybe I will do mine next year, too.

Lovely!

i do enjoy Liriopes. :-))

I still havent got any flowers :o((
this is so pretty though.

The only ones that haven't had any flowers are the variegated ones from Malvern last year. They were small plants, though, so maybe next year?
I am sorry about yours - I wonder if Andrew suceeded with his this year? I have no explanation as to why mine flower so well. I do nothing at all to them, except remove dead leaves.

So pretty...

Yes, and good because they flower now and into November. :-)))

Sorry Barbara. I miss so many photos. Thanks for telling me about it. I'm glad it's flowered for you but I am a bit jealous - I have none at all :o(( lol
12 Oct, 2010
Oh dear, Hywel - shall I dig it up and send it back? lol. I'm enjoying it - the flowers are a lovely colour. :-)))
12 Oct, 2010
Oh no, please don't do that lol. I'm glad you're enjoying it :o)
12 Oct, 2010
;-)))) I am!
12 Oct, 2010
Good. That's why I sent it :o)

Have you uncovered yours yet, Hywel?
12 Oct, 2010
yes he has spritz have a read of his blog if you havent already.
12 Oct, 2010
I did - I thought that was just the variegated ones, or did I miss this one?
12 Oct, 2010
Yes I've seen one of mine, and the variegated one, but neither of them have any flowers. There's another somewhere but I haven't been to that part yet.
13 Oct, 2010
Well, Hywel, I really hope you find it soon, with some flowers on it. :-/
13 Oct, 2010
Thanks :o)
13 Oct, 2010
Do please let me know!
13 Oct, 2010
When I find it I'll tell you. It's been cold today and I haven't been here anyway. I must look tomorrow.
14 Oct, 2010
Thanks. I haven't really ventured out today either, apart from walking Henry.

Hi Barbara. I've found another 2 liropes , but no flowers on either. It's rather disappointing. I had lots of flowers on them in the other garden, but up here they have never flowered.
Actually they look quite small, not like the big clumps I used to have in the cottage. Would you have any idea why they don't grow so well ? Is there something I should do, or give them ?
15 Oct, 2010
Hywel - I'm so sorry, but I don't do or give anything to mine. Andrew says the same - his won't flower, and I know he's tried a lot of positions, as well, to see if it makes a difference. I just don't know why they like it in my garden. (I'm pleased that they do, naturally!)
P.S. Andrew has had a success this year - he fed his with chicken manure in the spring, and it has flowered! :-))

I thought they liked shade so I put them there. Maybe it's a bit too shady for them.
Actually now I think of it, they had a lot of sun in the old garden. I'll have to try and put them somewhere sunny.
15 Oct, 2010
I have most of mine in the shade, Hywel, one in sun. I don't think it makes a lot of difference! I'll feed mine in the spring, as Andrew has. It might help them, especially the non-flowering variegated ones.
15 Oct, 2010
Yes, I'll give them a feed aswell I think. We'll see what happens then lol
My variegated one is in a pot. It's quite big. I might split it and put half in the ground
15 Oct, 2010
That sounds like a good idea. Did you take any bites today? I did - a few, anyway! lol.
15 Oct, 2010
I did take a small bite - I put some things away in the shed. Nothing done with the plants, but at least those things are out of the way now, so it's the plants next.
I'm glad you were able to do something. We had some sunshine in the afternoon - made me feel a bit brighter lol.
Have a nice day and I hope you can take another bite :o)
16 Oct, 2010
I will, Hywel - it's actually sunny here after all those days of cloud! You're right - it does help. :-)
